Took her off road with the GF and beat her up a bit.. a bunch of pin striping... but it was a fun day!
The area we went was basically a large maze of river trails off the Des Moines River next to and under the famous Kate Shelly Bridge..

the GF and I got something to eat before we went out and brought it to this pond I found at the end of one of the trails...

This was a bridge almost directly over where the previous picture was taken..

... shes so dirty again...

Hey Keymo, did you put the TJ flares on or were they on it when you bought it? Are they the 6" or 7" oversized or stock? Jeep looks great!

Well it wasn't exactly what I did "to" the YJ but "for" the YJ. I finally got around to cleaning and organizing the garage. Put up some better lighting also. Getting ready for the onset of winter and my 8.8 swap and new lift! :-) I did paint the new diff covers while I was cleaning though

I put them on. My YJ was a stock Islanders when I got her. They're the 6", I believe... I know they're the oversized ones. Was about 9-10 years ago when i did most of the modifications to her so its fuzzy..

Thank you for your kind words!

Thanks. I actually started with plain Brillo pads and then used sand paper to get the remaining rust spots off. I wanted a flat black look and picked up a high temp spray paint - like you'd use for a Bar-B-Q - and did three coats. We'll see how it holds up. I was thinking about doing the rims but I am going to wait a bit on that. I know there are a few threads on here where some have painted the rims but I am not sure what kind of paint they used.

Added a new to me bike rack.

Got this bike rack from Craigslist for $25.00.

I like it, only needs one of the rubber straps .

So I put on my mad scientist goggles again this weekend and here's what I came up with....

Ya know how everyone hates seeing all the wires hanging down from under the dash? I'm one of em too and decided to do something about it so I grabbed a tape measure, a pencil, a jig saw and some sheet metal and went to town.

This is what I came up with...

This pic is bottom side up, so it's actually sitting backwards from how it mounts in.

Initial test fit.

Final fitment with under-dash light and power point mounted. I have not painted it yet, it just happened to be the right color to match my interior.

I also decided it was time to move my radios into my console to get them out of the weather and to be able to secure them better. I had to leave for a concert yesterday so I just threw some stuff back in the console to get it out of the way. I'll get it all cleaned up and get some good pics for a decent write-up later.

This is my home-built power distribution block. More detailed pics in the write-up later as well.

they look great. For that little bit of rust, hand sanding wouldn't be too bad, but if they were any worse, it would be worthwhile to find a sandblaster in the yellowpages. For this kind of work, the rims can be sandblasted without taking the tires off and it would be clean steel for you to paint. Another option would be to use those rust conversion products like the one Permatex makes then use your flat black on top.

Well I keep seeing everyone else doing it so I couldn't resist. Ordered the cheap 194 360 green LEDs from amazon. I also ordered a white kit incase I get tired of the green.

If I hade one complaint it would be that the redlines don't show up all that well. Not that big of a deal though.

I touched up my spare tire with that spray paint bed liner, seems a little better than just spray paint, a little more durable at least.

Lost my rear main seal sometime over the weekend, went to replace it and had to take the passenger fender off to get anywhere removing the pan. Got the rear main cap off and found a badly gouged bearing and the crank has marks on it as well. Well shoot. I hate it when I go to replace a seal only to find the motor needs a rebuild. Debating on whether to put it back together as is and run it, or actually fix it. I was hoping to do a 4.0 efi head swap soon, maybe I should just do a stroker build?

While pondering this I got on craigslist to see if I could find a good donor. Ended up finding and buying an AX15 from a guy 2 miles down the road. It is an internal slave model with a bad slave, but for $80 I am not worried about it not being perfect. It's all good internally according to the seller. Anyways when I got home the jeep was still broken for some reason. So I am cooking a pizza and drinking beer to see if it helps.

Bought a 4.0 long block with less than 5000 miles on the rebuild. It has been bored .030 over and has an RV cam installed as well. I paid $100 for it. Plan is to put my 4.2 crank and rods in it and have me a dirt cheap 4.6 stroker.

Nothing big, but pulled the gauge panel and cleaned the circuit board contacts. Now all the lights work (plan to upgrade to leds soon), but oil and voltage stil not working. Il pick p an oil sender today and try that. If the sender is dead, would that render the gauge totally inoperable (gauge does nothing when keyed or started)? Now to figure out what the deal is with the volt gauge (get 13+ across battery terminals at idle, and around 14 when revving). I also got that silly shift light working. I know it's useless, but I'm trying to everything working, even the silly stuff.
