Replaced my 32's with some 35's! Found out my Clutch master cylinder is leaking on the inside and I have a broken axle shaft joint along with bad ball joints. I better get to work.

Replaced steering wheel with a grant.

Replaced my ignition cylinder so that I can go back to one key!

I gotta get my steering fixed. Need to recenter everything. Need a drop pitman or one of those under-over ball joint sleeves.

And so it begins.......

Painting the YJ. Started with the Tailgate and hinges.

Before (on the Jeep):

After (drying):

Will probably do the doors next, then the hood, and then finally the tub.

I fixed my vacuum shift motor with a cheap little nylon spacer from the hard wear store. 1/2"x.375x5/8" It was a perfect fit to hold the shift fork in the "4 wheel" position. no trimming or anything needed. Start to finish it took me 1hr. (that includes the trip to the hard wear store)

Spent the weekend replacing the hub bearing assembly on both side alond with all new rotors, calipers, and pads. One thing I learned is that 17 years of rust is almost equal to a pretty good weld job. That hub took forever to come out. The rotor on the driver side had no surface at all on the back side. I was surprised I could even stop anymore...although it was barely lol. It stops on a dime now and now that the new bearings are on, its ready for the trails.

I noticed that my RC Nitro steering stabilizer (it's probably 1.5 larger diameter than OEM) was rubbing on the steering rod. It was so bad that it literally destroyed the boot I had on it. So, as I started digging to find out what the hell, it appeared that two 3/16" washers were not enough to space the bottle away from the rod enough. On the other hand, it looked like if I supply enough of space there there would not be thread left on the bolt for me to tie the nut on. A trip to True Value did the trick: a set of new, longer grade 8 bolts, nuts, 3 extra washers (that by the way costed me a small fortune ),and two 1 mm thick lock washers under limiters had the issue resolved but the story was far from over. I finished fixing the steering stabilizer and was almost on the ground when I decided to check front bearings and boy there was a surprise waiting for me. My left front had so much of free play that the wobbling I started getting after putting 33's on was finally explained $84 and new hub made its way on and I got me a tire mounting plate for future tire carrier . Put new boots on tie rod ends. Lubed everything lubricateable and called it a day. Drives much better now

Welp... Got half my floor undercoated. Will finish it tomorrow, hopefully. Should work well with a carpet added. Also painted my doors to match, Kind of. I did the bottom half and wasn't sure what to do do with the top. I left it as is for now. I'll think of something...

The floor half done:

Wow Vermont must suck if you fail over a rust hole.

Yes and no.

Yes, If you're coming up on inspection time and have rust.

No, Because a lot of people used to just let their cars rot and fall apart. Making it hard to find a decent used vehicle. Unfortunately.. they use salt up here and rust is inevitable. It can be minimized with some tlc and prep.

I do agree Vermont is a bit stringent...

Anyhoo.. back on topic... All I did today was put my bumper/tire carrier on. Wasn't a good day though. The bumper is resonating road, engine, tire, etc.. noise right into the cab. I made a new thread in the General forum asking for help. Hopefully someone there can help me out.

Rear bumper resonating sound?

Oh.. these' guys over here have quite the racket going on. You would think it's nice to have them around but.. they don't cut any breaks. There is literally no advantage to having them close other than being able to pick up items locally. Not your typical junkyard. They are proud of their merchandise and are well aware of the market for jeep stuff. And they sell stuff, accordingly.

If you can imagine this.. they are right down the road.. and I still browse ebay and craigslist for deals.

I rechecked the steering rods today only to find out that my 33's pretty much killed all ends on them (I believe they are all original) I have to change them all now including the second hub (just to make sure), except this time I'll go a bit different route. I believe my local Car Quest had this service there they would change a bearing on the existing hub for half the price of the new one. At the rate I'm going I do not think I'll be change it any time soon, so it looks like something interesting moneywise. The only part that sucks is that I'll have to do wheel alignment and I hate that with passion especially now since it's damn cold and wet and I lost access to a heated shop my buddy would normally let me use.

Top heater hose blew loose, on the kid when he was driving home from school.
I guess I did not get it tight enough
He pulled it in the drive way
Easy fix
re-tightened every thing, refillilled
went to spray wash and washed everything off
Drove it around for awhile, everything seems ok
washed down the drive way with buckets from house
It is cold out here, hose's all put away
