While driving my kid to daycare I saw my volt meter slowly dropping, and when I stopped out front of the daycare I heard a sharp pinging coming from under the hood. When I lifted the hood I noticed the belt to my alternator was wrapped around the fan and had been swating the hood and power steering line... good start to a cold day.

I got my new tail gate hinges and a nice stainless CB mount from CFE that mounts off the tail light. Now all I need is some warm weather and some time.

Had blast driving today (we had somewhat measurable snow in Chicago) while others sucked unrealistically. I know its drive's skills that mater the most but still - those are HIGH TECH packed cars and trucks that cost s&$@$t load of dough. My Rio Grande (normally one of the slowest vehicles on the road) was passing everybody today the only ones were sitting on my tail were

...

two Grand Cherokees (what a surprise, right ).

Have the same thing over here in central Ohio, not even snowing that much and people sucking at driving! I had a TJ and an XJ that were next to me we had some fun to, snow drifting and all

Got the new windshield in, and installed various small parts like wipers, door handles, door panels, etc. Also blacked out underneath. Q-tec said Supertop NX and upper door sliders are in and should ship today. I almost cancelled the backorder and purchased from Amazon since I don't have a top at all and need to free up the bay in the shop, but it should be on the way now.

I fabricated engine mount brackets for my YJ, so I can mount the 318/390. I plan to finish welding them on when I get the block out of the way.

Installed some seatbelt supports so I dont have to fish them off of the floor everytime I get in the Jeep. What a pain it was to get them threaded through. In the end a big ziptie as a lead, pair of vice grips to pull with and the help of the wife got them through the supports.

Changed out the Brake Booster and Master Cylinder. WOW, what a differnce. No more air leak. Idles perfect even when the brakes are applied and I dont have to use all my strength to press the brake pedal.

The old master cylinder was full of sludge on the bottom, Simple maintenance can go a long way and I can see the previous owner cut corners everywhere.

Changed the oil. cold weather so went with 5w30. Added some fuel system cleaner. Now I can here a knock of some sort when I am at a idle. Dont think it is engine noise. Think it is something in the dash just now that the engine is a little quiter I am hearing more stuff.

Opened the rear diff and changed the fluid or I should say removed the sludge and added fluid. It was a thick brown almost paste like. I cleaned it out the best I could with brake cleaner. Figure in about 1000 miles I will empty it again. That should give the new oil a chance to clean the parts up a little. Still need to do the front diff and I have some synthetic 10w30 for the manual trans I still need to get to. Just got tired of laying on the cold wet floor out in the garage.

Cleaned the air filter out. Removed a small rats nest from under the filter and blew the filter out with the compressor. The more I do the more I want to go tell the previous owner what a lazy turd he was.
