It's a bit complicated in a way.. takes a bit of research on your part so you don't get bit in the ass..

Essentially you find a metropolitan area nearby, search that areas craigslist, find someone who has spent untold amounts of money into their Jeep but because they live in a highly populated area, the market just isnt there and they are selling for cheap.

You have to weigh how much you think you can get for all the extra "goodies" on the jeep that you don't intend to keep.. and then how much you figure you can get for the jeep without all the parts on it.

So in short what we do is,

figure out the cost of the rig + fuel + insurance + extras (full coverage for the trip because it would be stupid not to)
add up all your costs, then subtract all that you intend to sell off of it.. then you will arrive at the cost you need to sell it at to get everything you're taking, for free.

I do the same thing with high end R/C trucks. Some of them would have cost me nearly 2k, but I onlt spent around 3-400. I imagine doing this with jeeps is alot more labor intensive but worth it if you have the time.
Me and my fellow jeeep friend recently bought a jeep with a bad frame for 800.00..Took out the transmission cause his failed and sold the rest minus whatever else we wanted from it for 600.00. Who knows how much we saved on that deal. We got alot of good parts off it for 200.00 is all i know.

Yeah man its really the best way to do it if you can afford it, and have the time and space to tear it down our what have you. not meaning to brag or anything but with the Jeep we bought last week for the axles, and the Jeep we're buying today... If I had to pay new/slightly used prices for everything I'm getting off them, it would cost in the neighborhood of $12,000

I'd recommend relocating the winch relay box under the hood. Especially if you do some water a activities
