I heard the same thing. plus having mud in it when you need to use it can't be good for the jack. I keep mine inside up out of the way.

I went to my local bardware store and they had rubber corks. They work awesome and are easy to get out from in the jeep.

Replaced all the hood accessories like the hood catches locks, windshield locks, etc. Replace windshield wipers, radiator flush, oil change, replaced all exterior light bulbs.

Just got this jeep not too long ago so had to do the needed little things. Any suggestions on anything i should do at this point?

guess work

I bought a 93 about a month ago, decent shape. I had to get it inspected and was a bit nervous because it had not had emissions inspection before (different county). Anyway long story short, passed emissions (167k miles) but failed parking break (manual).

Thought parking break cables, not a big deal. But couldn't get the drums off (even after pounding). Also noticed some rust. Took to brake shop where they were able to get the drums off (and we inspected the internals). All was pretty rusty and we saw where cables were broken. The brake place needed to order the cables, so I took it home and got the cables myself. Figured now that they had gotten the drums off I would fix it.

The interesting part came when I decided to replace the hardware in the drums. I got the springs and hardware, but when I started to examine what I brought home and what was on the brakes, they were different. After looking online I matched the rear end to a GM corporate 10 bolt differential (not a Dana).

At this point I had no idea what brake system was on this YJ and took it back to the brake shop, told them what I had learned. They figured out the brakes were from a Cherokee (probably same year). Anyway finally passed inspection, and I learned something new about my YJ

Since have put the VDP soundbar on, RoughRidge security console, new Safari top. Replaced the front speakers (using info from post on the forum).

Have lots more to do, rust is through the rear frame. Looking forward to RC 4" lift and 33's. Also interested in louder exhaust.

Speaking of louder exhaust, I have yet to hear a I6 exhaust sound as good as V8. Can an I6 ever sound as throaty as a V8?
