Replaced the MAP vacuum sensor. It started! woo-HOO!

It's nearly time to get the bikini top out of the closet.

Removed the 23 year old stock springs and replaced them with new OEM spring all the way around. Kept the add-a-leafs I installed a year ago. I got an inch of lift back from the sag in the old springs. My 15 year old son helped all day (didn't complain much at all), so it was a great day.

Now it's time to hit the bottle (motrin bottle) and start thinking about Natl Go Topless Day in Corpus Christi!!

Put pads on the front today. None to soon either. The outside pad on the PS was almost into the rotor. I also cut down the factory ashtray and used the lighter side as a power point, ditched the tray. I haven't smoked in 10yrs so I didn't need it and the Heep is a smoke free enviroment. Then before coming in the house I added a 35w back-up light to the rear bumper. Now to get the LED tag light and mount it.

I cursed my Jeep and at this point in time I hate my YJ. I would like to drive it off a cliff. My 4x4 Club had a wrenching party toady. And my YJ was the main job. Install a Rough Country 2.0 4" Lift. Well after 10 hours we only completed the front. Had to cut both sway bars from the track bar at the top. Now I will have to drill out the track bar. We had to cut of the the back frame bolts for the leaf springs. Could not get the pitman drop arm off. So now I will have to attempt this again. And all the people who posted that this job requires nothing but basic tools is lying. I love my Jeep but right now we are at odds. As soon as I get the lift kit done we will be in love again.

Dont feel to bad. I spent a entire day on the rear when i lifted it. Had it at a hot rod angle for a week just sitting till i could finish it. Took 2 days total due to old bolts and friends drinking. But it got done and you'll love it.

I'd still be under my Jeep cursing if it wasnt for my air tools. They only get used once every couple of years, but when they do get pushed into service, they are my best friends.

We have impact wrenches we are only missing heat. I am sitting at at reverse hot rod angle right now. Going to my other club members house to finish it up in a few minutes. He has heat so hopefully we can get this done quickly. OH I forgot to mention it is raining outside nd he has no garage.

I used an air hammer to get the bolts out of the springs and trac bars....worked nicely. I did all the work in one day,,,alone and sober. :-( The top bolt for the front trac bar snapped so I ended up buying new bolts for it. That was definetly the hardest one to remove.
I feel your pain thou....seems like the easiest jobs turn into major repairs sometimes.

All done with my lift! I am super stoked. Will add pictures as soon as it stops raining. Now I am sad because my 31" Mud Terrains look so small now!

Just out of morbid curiosity, did you PB'laster all the nuts and bolts every day for the week preceding the wrenching party? If you didn't, you just learned a good lesson about 25 year old fasteners and time. Sorry it sucked for you but it really shouldn't have taken that long or been that frustrating. Sorry dude. Liquid Wrench or PB'laster are your best friends on an old YJ.

Yes I sprayed all bolts 2 weeks everyday prior. All bolts came off with a breaker bar except the one in the front where the leaf springs mount to the frame. Doing the rear with an impact wrench was easy as pie. But did have to use a 3/4 wrench and socket on the rear leaf spring bolts on the frame. Having impact tools makes the job so easy. If I had impact tools I could have done the job in about 5 hours.

Replaced my ignition lock cylinder with one that I re-keyed to match my door locks.

A few years ago, someone hogged out my door locks then broke my passenger wing window (the most expensive piece of glass in my Jeep) to steal a CD, and some spare change. I had replaced the doors lock cylinders, but not the tailgate lock, so I still need to match that one later.

Not what I did TO the YJ but more so FOR the YJ. I bought her a winch. Warn MX8000 D1. A guy on CL sold it for cheap and it works great. I just need to buy a synthetic winch line now.

Lesson NOT learned. Just leave it open since they are getting in and destroying your windows anyway.
