What to do with rear bench seat?

Hi everyone:

Just wondering what people have done with their rear bench seat.
Is it still installed in your jeep?
Is it in storage ?
did you sell it?

Just trying to figure out what to do with mine as its just usually me who's driving it.?

Don't sell it.
You never know when you might need three girls to tag along with you.
Mine usually stays in the Jeep.

I would take it out when needed, but usually left mine in. Now that I have kids, taking out the rear seat isn't really an option for any sort of family travel.

I vote hang on to it as you never know when you will need it. PO left mine out in the rain and it got all moldy. I picked up a replacement on CL so my daughter and wife could ride along.

I'm in the same boat. To sell or just continue collecting spider webs?

I guess It's better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

I keep mine in just in case my Daughter's friends want to take a ride. If you do take it out, I wouldn't sell it. If you need it it's there. Don't expect you would get much for it as you can buy them from most aftermarkets. I did make a box and bolted the seat to it in a CJ I had. Gave storage and comfort.

I've actually looked online and thought about installing flip-up bucket seats like the old FJ40s on the sides so that you have optional seating but all of the floor room for storage

Sold mine and am in the process of buying a forklift/tractor seat and somehow building a bracket to mount it in,,, I've found that on camping trips I cannot fit 4 people with 4 peoples gear! This way ill be able to fit 3 people with 3 people's gear and the pup!!! Just gotta do a bit more brainstorming on this mount!

My 9 year old would mutiny so fast it would make your head spin if I pulled mine out.

I took mine out then went to like Walmart or target or something. Can't remember exactly where but I bought a container box that has hinges on it and latches down and I drilled some holes in it where the bolts go in the floor from the seat and just used the factory bolts and the box is as solid as a rock. Doesn't budge. I also put a lock on it so when I have my baseball stuff in it it's secure.

I took mine out along with all the hardware when i herculined my tub then I had a underbody truck box (they are usually mounted on tractor trailers) it fit very tightly between the wheelwells I had to beat it down into place with a sledge hammer. It is lockable and waterproof. My old seat is now my cats favorite place to sleep down in the basement.

Did you Herculine the box too? And can you post a pic? Sounds pretty cool.

I kept mine. Sometimes when another person rides with my my dog gets kicked out of the passenger seat, and I would have her sit of the hard metal floor! thats inhumane!

my dog is my best friend, and she is mostly human!

Mine is in the shed. Its good to have all the serviceable OEM parts, even if in a box, when its time to sell.

Mine didn't come with one, so I built a sub box. When my '14 gets here first thing I'm doing is taking the back seat out.

Mine is usually out. It only takes 10 minutes to bolt it back in when I get an extra passenger or two.

mine is still in I take it out every now and then when hauling wood but it just slides off the hinge and comes right out but and sometimes I fold and flip it if I have my tools with me but for the most part it stays in
