Whats the best Ring 7 Pinions on the market for a ford 8.8?

Need opinions and feed back, i have been looking at 4:10 ring and pinions for the 8.8 im building for my jeep. i recently decided that since im building this axle i might as well go ahead and put a locker in it, since the limited slip is not 100% effective. Only issue im having now is finding a good R&P at a decent value without buying Junk that will need work in a few months or a year. I know its probably not possible, but i would like to be able to build this rear end and never have to get back into it again except to change fluids but hey i can dream. Feed back and expierences would be greatly appreciated.

Yukon makes good quality gears. I have Ford Racing gears in my 8.8.

I have driven a stock car with a Ford 9" rear in it for years and have always used Ford Racing parts in it. When I swapped in the 8.8 out of an Explorer, I rebuilt it with a parts kit from Ford Racing.

www.fordracingpartsdirect.com. Ring and pinion rebuild kit for $129, and 4.10 gear set for $209. Good prices and great parts.

Oh and my 4.56 gears are Motive gear. They are pretty stout gears and are worth the $ I think. They are a little cheaper than most other brands.

You know they came stock with 4.10/11's right.. might be cheaper just to sell the one you have and get one with the correct gears already in it.. and from ford... add a full case locker and call it day... out side of that.. most name brand gears are just fine, dana, g2, yukon, etc..

G2 was my gears of choice. Their in my Ford 8.8, but if you get them set up properly, any of the namebrand ones would work. I got mine because of cost. So far I'm happy with them.

They have been to Moab & White Rim Road, then back to Washington. And hopefully in 2 weeks thru the Rubicon trail. I consider it a daily driver.

You bought G2 because of cost? Was there a 40% off sale or something? If you got them for cost and no sale then you spent to much IMO. For the price of 1 set of G2 gears, I bought Motive gears and master rebuild kit.

I agree! Though all the 8.8 gears are so thick and strong anyway that any gears work. Mine are G2 4.56 gears

I am also not convinced that gear brand is going to be a huge deal. I have ran G2s on my personal rig with no issues. Our race jeep has USA Standard Gear in one axle and Yukon in the other. I personally think that if gear brands were a big deal, you would see more on the forums about which brands to avoid.

I don't go for richmond or motive gears. Bad experiences from both. Gear setup is usually more important than brand however.

That's why I said I dont go for richmond haha, even after proper set up, they were noisy and they wore fast. Motive is the same quality imho
