Forgot The Rest of Decription

YJ Wrangler Islander

From 1988 until 1993, Jeep produced an options package known as the "Islander". Several colors were offered, such as Bright Red, Sunset Yellow, Teal, and White, and both engines were offered. Features of the package are as follows

92 Bright red here, however:

No Body color wheel flares and side steps, side steps were removed and replaced with rock sliders, flares were replaced with tj 5.5" flares

No Sunset graphics on lower body and hood, these were removed long before I got the jeep, however at the right angle you can see where they used to be.

No Islander logo on front fenders and spare tire cover, removed, and i dont have a tire cover

No Gray interior and highback leather seats, recently removed these for more comfortable seats

No Floor carpeting, the only carpet left when i got it was in the rear, and that came out pretty soon after

Replaced the stock center console with cupholders as it was broken

and i'm rockin half doors

Look at your VIN, if the 6th character in it is a "3" then it is an islander.. unless its a 1988 then i dont believe you can tell by the vin

Its a 2, weird cause I have the grey interior, side graphics and I'm sure I have the 20 gallon gas tank. Not so sure but I've pretty sure I've pumped around 20 gallons in it

No graphics on the hood. I have to double check the fuel capacity. That's all I'm interested in anyways

the islanders are the texas a&m corpus christi team logos. you guys should cruise down here and get the girl's volley ball and basket ball teams to do some bikini pics in your jeeps

i've got a 91 Islander, Teal.
it was originally owned by a girl in Florida.
i bought it from her in Missouri.
it was in Colorado for a while and now its in Utah.
the decal on the hood was faded to almost white, so i removed it, but the rest of the car is in good shape. about 140,000 miles.

It should say on your build sheet if you have the 15 or 20 gal fuel capacity... go to Jeep.com and request it and type in your vin... I did mine last week and it said I had the 20 already setup...It will tell you what other options you have also...

Anyone else have a chrome grille on their islander? I don't think I've seen another one besides mine.

I got my build sheet like Blazer did and it said it came with a body color grille so I guess someone changed it out over the years. But I'm changing the color anyways as its the only chrome on the entire jeep. But I am glad the original 215 75 tires are gone. Lol

They all have a 20 gallon capacity, they just changed the filler tubes on the base models so that you could only put 15 gallons in, there is a common modification that people do so they can access the other 5 gallons.. but as for the tank they're all the same size.

I saw this on another site and thought the 15 to 20 gallon mod was only on 91-95 YJs. Fortunately my Islander has the 20 so I don't have to mess with it.
