Where to begin?

My jeep stalls when shifting from drive to reverse and occasionally at a stop. Where do I begin with the diagnosis process? Thanks

Vacuum leak? A lot of problems occur because of a vacuum leak.

Gotta stand by all you cool guys... Maybe it'll rub off?!

Stalls as in dies or just doesn't seem to engage? If its the latter I'd be checking the linkage and throw out bearing after the vacuum lines.
Wheel side down...unless you are having way too much fun.
