Why?! Well, to answer your question, you'll gain ATLEAST 2.5" with the new springs. I'd think it's somewhere around 3" because of your previous spring sag. For the tires- take your current tire height (C) subtract it from what tire size your going to (N) then divide by 2 [(C-N)/2]. That will give you how much your height will change with your new tires. Not sure how tall your garage door is, so you'll need to figure that out on your own.
76" from floor to top of my roll bar...3.5" of total lift on 32s...unless your garage is unusually small you should be GTG. My garage door is 8' tall so no issues here..YMMV
My YJ with 5" lift and 33's fits in my garage and it's not a tall garage either. When i had a factory soft top it came close to hitting the center frame. I had to push the door up as far as it would go and jam a spray paint can to keep the door pushed open as far as possible. with 2.5" and 31's you should be fine unless your garage is unusually low.
You have some variables. What kind of garage door? Is it a single piece door? Panel garage door? I lowered my Jeep a few inches converting from Softop to Hardtop. Your lift is highly variable. Some lifts are more than advertised. Which usually depends on your Jeep weight. No two Jeeps weigh the same. Some lift kits sag faster than others. Tires are usually more standardized. 31" tires can be 29" to 32".
If you are talking about a 1/2" and run your tires at 35 lbs or recommended spec you might get in by airing down a little plus you'll get a softer ride😀unfortunately my garage is 75% bedroom and I have to park outside. Sorry I'm no help.
From the best I can tell the OME kit is 2.5" of lift..In my case, and many others as well, it seemed like more because my old springs we flat...it was also not running any shocks on the back as the towers rusted away about 5 years ago..lol.
Ok imagine if you will a stock YJ. Now add a hardtop and a 2.5 inch OME heavy duty lift with 31 inch tires. Roughly how many inches in height will I gain? Is getting through the garage opening an issue for you? I need to be able to get into the garage to access my hardtop hoist. Thanks Addison
I'm getting the feeling he hasn't done this lift yet and is just trying to get an approximate height before lifting.
Otherwise garage remodel! :banghead:
Well -- wait that could work out to be a good thing. Who doesn't love a freshly remodeled garage!! :thumb::beerdrinking:
