Windshields

Hi all,

I just got my windshield replaced on my yj. I didn't realize until I drove it the next day that it had the blue tint along the top. I have aftermarket seats and am not exactly short so it seems like the tint is right in my field of vision. When I called the windshield place they said nobody makes non tinted windows now. I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Anyone here get a new windshield recently that is all clear?

They are checking some other sources and will get back to me tomorrow. But tint on a Jeep windshield just seems wrong, it's so small as it is.

they make them. the glass shop you went with might not carry them or keep them in stock but they should offer a non tinted window for a YJ on a per order basis

They definitely make them without the tint. The one I had installed a few months ago has no tint.

Thanks for the comments. I hope they have the suppliers to get it. It would be rather awkward to have to try and return it and find another shop. Kind of a unique position when your taking about a installed windshield.

Just got a JEEP branded one from qtec... No tint at all, just the black surrond like the stock W/S.

They lied to ya... I spent 5 years working a mobile windshield replacement gig, there's at least 10 venders that are used nation wide that have 99% UV protection and no tint...

Dude I install car windshields for a living in Canada...they definately do make them withougt the tint!!

With tint = GBY (green tint bue shade)
ask for a windshield that is GTY, or GGY
NOT GBY

if you live near vancouver, Canada I can definatley hook you upp

Well they said they can't get a windshield. I'm going to try and ask for a refund tomorrow. Pretty sure I'm screwed.

Is it a local company or a national chain? If national, call the coporate offices, if local, call the BBB. That will give you a little leverage. The fact is, windshields without the tint do exist.

They fixed it. Turns out when I called back to complain they were confused and thought I had a cherokee. As soon as they figured out it was Wrangler they were confused why it had the tint in the first place.
