Wiring a new dash

Greetings all! I'm switching out my YJs dash for a CJ-style one from D&D Fab (great guy, great products) as part of replacing the entire electrical harness, which has begun showing its age. Since the YJ to CJ conversion seems fairly common, I want to see if anyone can help with the following questions.

1: What is the best harness to use for this conversion given that the YJ gauges are grouped together and the CJs are not?

2: How does one go about transferring the light panel (blinkers, check engine light etc)?

3: What are some common pitfalls of doing a switch like this?

Thanks in advance.

Tagging along, I hate our dash as well. I have been cleaning the clear plastic, fixing the gauges and replacing light bulbs, and now I'm not sure if I can get myself to put those ugly plastic overlays back on.

I like the YJ dash, I just put in new gauges and used Molex connectors. But if you are going CJ style, the wiring is the same. I used the original wires to the sending units, cut the factory plug off and re-wired to the Molex, and did the same with dash panel.
The gauges look crooked in the pic, but they are progressively angled...... so they look straight when sitting in the drivers seat. The "Boost" gauge is for vacuum......the only gauge I could find was a combo boost/vacuum gauge, so no...... I don't have a turbo!

That's clean, I'm hoping to start swapping out my gauges soon too. You got those as a kit? What brand?

The gauges are Equus, inexpensive and you can get them at Autozone, for the gas gauge, you have to get the GM 0-90 Ohm. My 88' has a mechanical speedo, I had to use a GM truck cable with an adapter. For cheap gauges, they work well so far. I used all of the existing sending units and wiring, although the gauges come with sending units.

The dash panels are Autometer....kind of pricey, but there aren't too many options unless you build your own, or go CJ style.
