Wrangler Unlimited Stock 17" wheels/tires on a YJ, need some quick advice

So I need new tires for my YJ since they are shot. I have a 4" lift w/ 31's on 15" rims. Currently I hit my leaf springs on the front when I turn.

So I found a set of (5) P255/75/R17 Goodyear Wrangler tires on 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 17" stock rims with 90% tread left and the spare never touched the road...

Guy only wants $200 for them, I know I will have to buy 5x5 to 5x4.5 adapters, but I needed to get spacers anyways since my tires were hitting my leafs, so that would work out perfectly and only cost $120 on eBay for (4) of them with shipping.

Has anyone seen 17s on a YJ before? Is it going to look stupid?

Paying $200 for the tires/wheels and $120 for adapters sounds a hell of a lot better than buying 4 new tires and having them mounted for like $600-$700 bucks. Also I could sell my old 15" rims cause they are in perfect condition...

Yeah I think at $200 I can't really go wrong. I am heading over there at lunch to pick them up. Hopefully I can fit 5 32" tires and wheels in my Passat...

I managed to fit all (5) of them in my Passat, barely. Tires were perfect, rims were perfect, and he threw in the Jeep tire cover for the spare. About 90% tread left and the spare is brand new...

For $200 this is probably the best thing I could have hoped for, now I have to impatiently wait for my adapters to get here so I can put them on, and I just realized its a holiday weekend, have to wait one extra day....

Which ebay adapters did you get?

Honestly I wouldn't cheap out on adapters and I'd go with the Spidertrax ones (which I did) they are made well.

Really good steal on the rims, I paid 200 too (got the sensors too which I'll sell once I replace the tires) but my tires need to be replaced soon.

Do you still have stock flares? Is the Jeep lifted at all?

I got a set of adapters for $120, should be good enough for now, if they are junk I will look into better ones. They seem legit though.

I have stock fenders but I have a 4" lift, my 31s have room to spare, so the 32s should be no problem.

I can not stress how annoying it is to have these tires and rims sitting, waiting to go on, and I have to wait till these damn adapters get here.

Just be careful with your bolt pattern adapters. I had a ZJ with 15's on and I needed new tires so I bought a set of the same rims with goodyear wrangler tires ni teh same size. They looked great on the ZJ, but after my first wheeling trip I felt a strange vibration that ended up feeling like a wheel was falling off after five minutes.
Well, I pulled over to inspect it and guess what, the front pass. side wheel was falling off. The spacers were a bit off and shered the lugs clean off the hub! I thought it was just an abused hub si I fitted another hub and drove it around for a while with no issues. two weeks later and after another wheeling trip I started to feel the same vibration. It was the same problem on the same hub, and this time it happend on the highway. Thankfully I noticed before it came off when I was doing 80mph and luckily I had another spare hub in the back!
Long story short, don't skimp on spacers, buy a good, trusted brand or not at all.

Just my 2 cents
