Yeap another fuel pump / sending unit question

I have been doing as much research on these questions as I could but still can't find an answer.
In my jeep I have the 20 gallon tank with the rectangle sending unit.
Someone has took different units to make it work- some what
My gauge doesn't work due to a bad sending unit and having a bent float arm it didn't help either.
The fuel pump doesn't have a screen because the bottom of the pump is broken off.
So my question is....
I plan on buying a new complete unit but the wiring that I have doesn't look the same as all of the units.
I have a FEMALE 5 pin plug thT my wiring plugs into, the new units look to have a male plug.
So am I looking at the wrong one or is there a female to female adapter?
Is something else?
If it Breaks dont just replace it ,UPGRADE IT.......

As DREDnot states, post some pics.

Another suggestion is if you are ordering your new fuel pump/sending unit online, why not call or email the seller?
Describe what you have and ask the seller to open the box and take a look at the plug.

I prefer to get my parts at my local auto parts store. If I order online and pick up in the store, I get a 10% discount. Then I take my part into the store to match it up before I pay. A trip to town vs. shipping and handling for an online sale is pretty much a wash.
Usually my parts store has what I need in the store or at the worst, stocked in the Denver warehouse, so I get it by 10:00 am the next day.

If you are unable to find a fuel pump with a plug that will match your female 5 pin. you can go to your local Harley-Davidson dealer and get a waterproof male and female 5 pin (or maybe 6 pin) plug. They are called Deutsch DT connectors and aren't very expensive. Then just cut the female plug off your harness and the male plug off the new fuel pump and connect everything together. As I remember, the plugs come with the seals, but you need to buy the wire end terminals. They come 10 or 12 on a strip. You will need 1 male strip and one female strip.

Don't forget the dielectric grease.

Good Luck, L.M.
