Yet another tire question...

Sorry for another tire thread.. but looked all around and havent found exactly the answer to my question.. Just bought a '92 wrangler about a week ago...

its got the stock rims n tire size on it atm.. was woundering if the 31x10.5 will fit under a yj without lifting?? really wanting to do the BFG Mud Terrian KM 33's but worried about the 4 banger n pulling those tires... i know someone around here has 2 be runnin that size tire woundering how the 4 banger does?? also how much lift id half to add 2 fit those tires??

All about price right now if im gonna settle for the 31s... or get the 33s... any info would be much appreciated

31" will jam under there w/ no lift, maybe put some 1" shackles on it would look good. i had a 4 banger w/ 33's, it works, wheels fine. very not fun on the street. you'll never see 65 mph again. or 5th gear really. that trans doesn't like it either.

people put 33's under yj's w/ 4" lift, but its tight. i'd say go soa.

She better be a street runner only with 31's and no lift. I have 2-1/2" of lift and could bury the tires up into the fender flares until I extended the bump stops.

DD during week... n offroad on weekends... even thou id really like the 33's kinda talkin myself down 2 the 31s.. until i got more funds to do it right.... now too just figure out what kinda lift too put on it to raise it enough too not crowd the 31s any ideas?? 2-3" i guess?? what kinda lift u runin whiteyj??

One more question... tryin to figure out exactly what setup i wanna run...
Tryin to deside between 2 dif shackles....

http://www.quadratec.com/products/16045_04.htm

or...

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...CKLE+LIFT+KITS

also between body lift of eather...

http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=10223

or..

http://www.quadratec.com/products/16067_01.htm

also going with a 1" MM

http://www.quadratec.com/products/16066_00.htm

thinking of going with the Performance Accessories 2" shackle... (2nd shackle link) along with the JKS 1.25" Body Lift (2nd body lift link) n the JKS 1" MM...

Think that setup will run 31's smoothly?? for a DD n weekend offroader??

thats a lot of parts for runnin 31's. make sure you like the way a body lift looks, the space between the frame and body is ugly to me, just my opinion. you could run the shacles and 31's no prob.

once you do that, you're gonna realize you want to go bigger, then you'll most likely want suspension lift, of which soa is the best leaf spring set up for yj.

most yj guys do shackles initially, and realize they want to get serious. i wouldn't go for all those parts till you get some experience, and see what you really like to do. but opinions are like a holes, everyones got one, and you know the rest.

hey hey, soa , soa , soa ,soa ,soa ,soa ,soa ,soa ,soa ,soa ,soa.....
let me see...

where is it...

ohh yeah SPRING OVER AXLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that means you take new perches and weld them on top of your axles, then, you bolt your spring packs ontop ...this translates to roughly 4 3/4 lift with stock springs, shop for some lifted springs...then slap them on too beast some 37s..lol....ok just get 31 mts then throw on your soa. your good to go stock...weekly dd weekend warrior. do it...just do it!!!

I went with a rough country 4" spring lift. The kit was about $400 and came with everything including trans case drop kit, pitman arm and shock absorbers. I easily fit 31's on it. If you are doing it yourself I highly recommend investing in a torch or wheel grinder and about 15 metal cutting disks..they only run about $2 a piece anyway.

Anyway...the lift looks awesome with the 31's....but like these guys have said about 5th gear....I get 70 mph on straight away but 50 in 4th going uphill with my 4 hamsters..

i have a 92 yj with a 5 in lift and i can run up to 35 s and the 4 banger can turn them 35 s pretty good but you might want to get a lower gearing. p.s. i hand a 2in shackle lift and 31s fit fine but them did rub the leaf springs

I got a 92 straigh 6 and i got an unknown lift (original owner put it on and i am the third owner so its a mystery) it looks good with 33/12.50 on it. i would suggest a 1 inch shckle also. I can hit 85 to 90
