Anybody have info on led headlights for the yj? I've looked around a lot and the only things I've come across are the truck lites and eBay stuff that seems like junk. Is there anything else out there that I'm missing?
First time I have seen this video and I watched the entire thing. Very very informative!
Just to add to this post .. does anyone have any info on the led headlights that consume the entire headlight? I am not interested in them, but it at least adds depth to the thread.
I paid someone to build mine because I was too lazy to build them However my buddy Steven ( XJRJRX ) has a great write up from when he did his in the how to stickies
I love how bright my hid's are I'll never put any other headlights on the cutoff is amazing and the light is right where you need it it's really very easy to do I was less than a week off foot reconstruction surgery when I did mine that's how easy it was my wife has pictures of me and my knee scooter in front of my jeep putting them in and wiring them up
Well the headlights came in today and I got them installed. I don't think I've ever been so eager for it to be dark outside! Holy cow these things are bright! I can actually see down the road! It's hard to tell in the night time pic, but they are way brighter than the halogens I had.
They seem to be made well. They look like they're sealed up good. They do have a plastic lens on the front (I kind of expected that). The pattern is a bit unusual (at least compared to halogens), they have a squareish hotspot near the center, but it actually works out being a good thing in my opinion. The cutoff is sharp so you're not blinding oncoming traffic. The high beams are big and bright though.
Pictures of the lights installed. I didn't put the bezels back on yet. You can't get to the adjuster screws with them on. Please excuse the dirty engine bay and crazy wiring
Looks good JOR but damn, $460.00 for headlights? Is it that important to see at night? LOL, jk man. They look good and the price really isn't that bad.
They're definitely not cheap, but way less than the jw speakers, or even the truck lites. Being able to actually see at night good enough to go the speed limit on the back roads makes it worth it to me.
Followed KMDWrangler's link, liked what I saw (especially the price at $149 a pair) and bought them. (NightSun NS-HL5X7)They arrived today but my Jeep is having an axle swap this weekend so I'll have to wait until next week to install and try them out.
Seems to be well built, the back is sealed and the wires are covered with a chafe resistant cover. Color temp 6000K, Max 3,400 lumens.
One of my head lights is slightly dimmer than the other and the old yellow hue they produce isn't the greatest option for the night. Although they are getting my by, I would like something new, a little more energy efficient and brighter. Do you guys think the LEDs are really that good or should I just get some new halogen style headlights for cheaper?
Correct me if I'm wrong, I have heard that LED lights will get a build up of ice during winter. Just because they produce less heat & some even have a heating element to correct this.
Has anyone have any winter experience with these lights (good or Bad) ?
Here are couple types that I have sold to a few guys around my way. They are DOT stamped as well
They are definitely brighter than stock from the feedback I have gotten.
