YJ prices?

Hey, new to this forum but not to Jeep life. Looking for a YJ (price driven more than anything else) in NY/Northern NJ/CT. I've had JKs so I'm familiar with the good, the bad and the ugly but don't know anything about YJ. What are some of the gotchas to look for as I start looking (aside from the old rusty bolts )? Thanks in advance for any help.

Craig

I'm not sure about your area but down here in missouri yjs sell for no more than $6000 for a perfect one and more like $5200 for all other pretty good ones. I paid $800 for mine running with a hard top and full hard doors so you just have to keep your eyes out(:

Also in Missouri. I picked my '92 up for $4000 In great shape with a rebuilt engine and transmission. After about $500 in cosmetic stuff it's in amazing shape for a 22 year old vehicle.

I'm in Ohio. Just picked up a 95 for 4k. Nothing special but it's got a 4" lift and 33s

Check Hudson Valley Craigslist. Prices are usually between 2000-6000. However up here in the great ol' northeast, condition also is all over the place. Most of them tend to be very rusted. Be patient and bring cash when time to buy. You should be able to get something decent for around 3000 if you aren't a sucker for the big wheels, lift, fancy bumpers and awesome stereo that make you blind to the real POS lying underneath! It always helps if you are mechanically able also.

Yeah, copy that. I'm looking to do a build, so I don't need the "lipstick on a pig" version..

I am in NC and bought a 91 for 1000, a 88 for 1500, and a 95 for 2500. All in decent shape but each had little things to repair on them. Check military towns... I always find better deals around military towns cause the guys get them then get deployed.
