I drove this YJ the other day and it is in great condition. Owner has all the receipts and everything works very well. 75% tread left on the tires and all fluids have been changed in the last 3000 miles.
It has all the items listed and PIAA lights, soundbar, 4:88 gears, ARB compressor and air lockers, etc.
I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the price. I can get him to $13k but it has no doors and the only top is the safari top.
JMO, not a chance!!! I have seen a lot of guys posting 8 grand yj's on here lately on the west coast and I have a hard time rapping my head around that but a yj for 13 grand with no doors or top!!!!!! That's insane, that baby looks gorgeous but 13 grand gorgeous?!?? No!.
Not to mention he is over 10,000 dollars over blue book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be honest I live in the rust belt of Michigan, yj's are realistic here because they are used and rusted. I don't live on the wonderful rust free west coast so I imagine yj's are in much better condition and go for much higher prices especially because all the true jeepers want to own cj's or the stepchild yj's for their simplicity. He has stock Dana 35's they are not great axles.
Sweet jeep, but no way on that price. Want a nice 91 yj? With no rust not hacked up and solid I'll sell ya mine for $ 8k just did a 600 mile trip with no issues in the last 3 days.
Hell no, I paid $7300 and still get heartburn. It was completly rust free, and stock, so I'm happy! Try looking on Albuquerque Craigslist, sometimes they're cheaper, sometimes not. Salt Lake City is another place to watch, but it's kinda far from pheonix.
13k is not crazy high, IF it is an extremely clean, rust free quality build. Just because YOU can't justify spending that much, doesn't mean someone else won't spend that much on one. For example....this extremely nice '89 just sold at Mecum yesterday for 15k, and that is before you tack on the 8% buyer's premium, which is additional $1,200.
well what is he waiting for then, go buy it and pay for someone else to build your jeep!!!!!! Guess I own a yj because I don't live on a jk budget! Plus when mine is done I can say I did it not someone else!
Not to mention whoever paid 15 grand for that is also going to have to buy a rear bumper with a tire carrier because that pretty paint job on the tailgate hinges is going to be ruined within a year with that oversized tire if the sheet metal doesn't fail first. And 15 grand with a 4.2. Can we say some old man with a mid life crisis with too much money?!?! But I digress. I still think it's too much, you can find one in great shape out there for a lot less.
13k is crazy I sold my last YJ for 6,000 almost 5 years ago. And I paid 7,000 for it about 14 years ago. It had Alcan Springs , bilstein shocks , 4.88's chromoly shafts , Arb , one ton steering on the D30. Had a D44 rear with 4.88's 35 spline Dutchman shafts 35 spline Arb locker. Custom bumpers rear swing out carrier. Arb snorkel , 5 brand new 35x12.50 mtr's. super short sye , 1" bl , flat belly skid , brown dog 1" mml, hard top, full steel doors , PSC sliders , oba. I'm probably forgetting something too.
Problem I see with that YJ is that part of its value is in the lockers and re-gear. Unfortunately, that is wasted on the stock D35. If you actually use them, you'll ruin them.
If it has no doors or top, that is a hit too.
If it had a replaced rear axle, top and doors it could be worth the asking price. If you started with a clean, stock, complete YJ ($6k +/-) you'd go through $7k pretty fast trying to duplicate those mods.
13K wow, make sure you know exactly what you're looking at. Take it to you're local jeep experts in town and have them look it over. For 13K the seller shouldn't having any issues with you wanting to have it checked out first. Be smart here. I easily have that much in my 93 yj, so if it checks out and you want it, go for it.
