You know you drive a YJ when everybody looks at you with a "That's Awesome" look.

Atleast in my case....

When you feel like a soon-to-be-extinct breed because all of your friends are buying JKs... I still tell them their jeeps well never be as American as mine

The check engine light comes on while driving it home after purchasing. Of course, it didn't come on during the test drive, and it's off now, so IDK, welcome to the club I guess! lol

you paid $2400 for a vehicle with no top, different gear ratio in the front axle than the rear, bad brakes, ridiculous sheet metal fender flares ripped seats......and still thought you got a killer deal. Bonus was the 6 cig. lighters I found between the windshield and dash!

The non YJ person would not see the value in the new lift, rebuilt 4.0l(w/ rebel flag painted on the entire engine), new 33" tires, aluminum wheels, new 4.56 gears and limited slip in rear axle. With the help of CL, a couple friends and a few hundred dollars I had a great Jeep. I have had it for 5 year and it's still going strong!

Per your request. The flag painted engine. It's not near as pretty as when I bought. It really shows up on the pan but right now it's a bit grimy.

When you look at Craig's list every day, not because you are looking for a particular part but because you are keeping your eyes open for a good deal on parts you know you will probably need in the future.

You own a YJ when you sweep up the dried mud in the garage and push the pile over the oil stains to help soak them up.

You know you own a yj and your roommate owns a cj when you argue at the grocery store over interior, You argue for bedliner, he argues for bare metal, and some dumb xj owner asks where the carpet is. Yes, this actually happened today.

When you take a sawzall to your trac bar, recognize it's hollow and use it as a breaker bar. Then you realize it's the most useful application that bar has seen in it's twenty year existence.

I've never been attentive to weather channel or weather.com. Well.. the bikini and the safari top (switching game..) made sure I am aware of what days I should have my camouflage tarp

also when my little nephew & niece start liking this rusty jeep more than my sister's Sienna and Camry

You know you own a YJ when you constantly have to restrain yourself from punching that guy in the mouth who doesn't own a jeep....nor has he ever driven a jeep...but he still feels compelled to tell you the one thing he thinks he knows "I heard real jeeps have round headlights!"

...when you're coming home with your groceries, top the ridge, and your pizza flies off into the canyon like an expensive frisbee

OK, so it is a LITTLE bit blustery here today. No need to get all crazy and, like, put the top on or anything...

My new wife got in my jeep and slammed the door. I told her next time to be gentle or she would break something or something would fall off. She thought I was kidding. She forgot and 30 minutes later she slammed the door again and knocked the latch release rod off inside the door. Love my " Classic " YJ
