You're wasting your time!

After an intense scientific study to determine what my wave chances are I've come to this conclusion. The chances that I can get a wave from a JKU is about 50/50 (50%). If the JKU happens to be unmodified (stock) the percentage drops to about 1 in 5 (20%). If the driver is a woman then the chances are about 2 in 5 (40%). All in all, my conclusion is the chance of getting a wave from a woman in an unmodded JKU is about 4 out of 100 (4%). Oh yeah, if there is a cellphone in the drivers hand then just forget about it! (not that I expect someone on a cellphone to let go of the steering wheel to wave at me anyway). So if you see a woman in an unmodified JKU talking on her cellphone, don't even attempt a wave. You're wasting your time!

I'm not to sure that its over rated but do agree that most JK owners are just that owners. To get the "Jeep Wave" returned the driver of said Jeep needs to be an enthusiast. If they are not well then don't bother. And it becomes even harder do to the fact that owners just upgrade their Jeep cause they think it looks good, but in fact their Jeep will never see offroad like most will.

Wranglerforum.com is pretty strict on the whole wave thread, so it wil probably get merged into the BIG wave thread, or deleted, but FYI, I stopped waving at non modded JKs or TJs.
Never get any wave-backs, just funny looks.

to be clear (i have a manual, right hand on shifter, left hand top of wheel) so i just give a two finger kind of salute

True, we do have a huge wave thread already: Offical Wrangler Forum Jeep Wave Thread

We have, however changed out procedures regarding wave threads. As long as things are kept civil, the thread can stay open.

I'm glad someone threaded this. In Phoenix I rarely get a wave anymore. It's kind of lame. So I started only waving at yjs and tjs.

As a woman, naturally I disagree with the statement that women wave less then men. I have given up waving to any Jeeps except CJs and YJs because so few people driving other models wave. But as I was driving home on the freeway last night a guy in a stock YJ with just a bimini top pulls up beside me (my top is up but my windows are off) and we both wave at the same time. It made me feel so good I smiled the whole way home.

Don't go nuts. This is just my opinion......... but CHRYSLER KILLED THE WAVE. Unfortunately, the Jeep has lost it's identity!

Six months ago I decided I needed a new Florida toy and the jeep was going to fit the bill for me just fine. I remembered driving a jeep when I was a kid living in Europe and I was going to be doing that same thing again. Off I go to a dealership knowing full well I was going to drop a bundle and I had no problem with that. That was until I drove the damn thing!!!! Its not a jeep anymore. Air conditioning, power windows, 4 doors, soft ride, round friggin' headlights I have absolutely nothing in common with the people that buy jeeps today so why would I wave at them?

It sucks guys, but just understand, we are the dinosaurs and soon riding the way we love is going to be riding into the sunset. But at least all of us are here to enjoy the last ride! And you know I'm right.

I get waved at regularly in my area and return the same. I drive a non-modded TJ (unless you count 31's as a mod lol) but then again I live in a small town and almost everyone is friendly that way who drives a jeep.

And If you don't wave up north, people have been known to disappear...

Grace - "the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it".

Sorry, didnt mean to get all religious. Wave because you want to, not because they earned it.

I've gotten used to the weird looks and limited returned waves. I've been waving for 9 years now... I ride a Harley and motorcycle riders wave at each other, I have a '63 Fairlane and just about everybody in a classic car waves at other classics, and of course my heep.. The really sad thing is probable about 90% of my waves are returned when I'm on my bike as well as my Fairlane (when it was running).. As far as when I'm in the heep, maybe 40-50% returned What is this world coming to lol.. Needless to say, I continue to jeep wave and hope that it starts catching on again.

No wave back still bugs me a little, but I figure those who Do wave are Jeep enthusiasts, the others are just drivers.
For you YJ folks, I love seeing you out there, and always give a hearty wave.
When in our CJ, I see waves all over, even from other lifted trucks.

I bet I was 0 for 40 today with the jeep wave. Mine looks stock but i've done some smaller things to it. Sadly, here the women wave more often than the guys do, and it seems the "loathed" mall crawlers are the most likely to wave. I see MANY heavily modded jeepers running around and not a one waves or even acknowledges another jeep.

same here. Yj, jk, cj, tj, mj, xj, I wave, whether they return it or not doesn't really matter to me. I do get quite a bit of wave backs though.

Don't be so sensitive. Cj or wrangler, I wave. Not my problem If they don't wave back. I've gotten waves back from the least likely recipients, and no waves from those where I expected it. No skin of my ass if they do or don't, it's a matter of those of us who get it trying to show the ones who don't the ropes. Make them feel welcome, and maybe you'll see them on the trail someday.
