1979 CJ5 - Should I Buy?

I had a Jeep in high school (77 CJ) and I have always wanted another one as a 3rd vehicle.

I found this one on TradesNSales: http://tradesnsales.com/1979-cj5-jeep-1

I am wondering if it is worth the money. It looks like the owner did a great job restoring it. Any idea on what questions I should as to see if it is worth the buy?

Thanks!

$10,000...

I'm sure he probably has more in it than that.
The website isn't very informative. Pics are limited and don't give much detail.

What parts are new? Axles, windshield frame, alternator, tub, gears, exhaust, radiator, clutch?

What parts are rebuilt? Engine, transmission, transfer case?

What parts are original? Wiring, speedo, wiper motor, ignition switch, column, steering box? How is the frame? Check it carefully for rust through, and cracks at all spring mount, motor mount and steering box locations. Any tub rust?

What do you intend to do with it?

Bottom line, for $10K you can buy a nice TJ that will be more functional, more road friendly and require less TLC... and still have a few grand in your pocket.

I've done the complete CJ rebuild, over a 16-year period. While fun, I don't miss the constant nagging issues.
I miss my '71 CJ sometimes, but love my seven-year-old LJ...

HTH, good luck!
