70's cj's

70's cj's in the local truck trader gor for $3000-25000. These things made of gold!?? What did some of you guys pay for yours, or what do you think is fair?

Apparently everyone else wants them too. Only reason i can think of as to why they can be worth that much.

There are a lot of options that were in 70's CJ's that just weren't around in the 80's. They stopped offereing the V8 in 82 I believe for example.

So yeah CJ's are kind of gold to the wheelin community for all kinds of reasons.

^^What he said. The mid to late 80's started going to the lighter duty equipment. i.e weaker transmissions and smaller motors. The most sought after tranny is the T-18 which I think they stopped using them in '80.

Ok first off the inline six is just as strong of a motor for offroading as the v8 was it does the job without the noise but it does it. as for the trans ya the older ones were nice but things changed and you can buy transmissions now that are borderline to bullet proof that bolt to a inline six. I paid 2800 for mine after it was restored with a hard top and doors, a winch and a fresh 258. you just have to look man.
