CB, antenna, tuning, oh boy!

I am buying the Cobra LX CB in a few days. I have a friend who can help tune it once I get everything. Question is what is best off road antenna to buy? So many options. Also, suggestions for set up would be appreciated.

Well by now you probably have it all hooked up. If you are still looking for the antenna try a local truck stop. Let me know what you came up with and how it turned out.

You'll probably need to SWR the aerial.....BUT check out pre-SWR'd ones...they're quite common. Google "orbiter" for example. Saves a lot of hassle. Also check the best position to put it.....

I just went through all this with my jeep. I ordered a inexpensive refab CB from uniden (bearcat) and a 4 foot firestik antenna kit online and a swr meter from amazon... son in law installed one in his also... the cheap radios were small enough to cram into my TJ and work well within a mile radious. ..perfect for trail ride communication ... I ordered the swr meter but some truckstops carry them. Pretty easy to use to tune your antenna . Hope this helps... Mike
