Cj 5

Ok so I have what used to be a bad ass 1983 CJ 5 renegade that has full rollcage, 38.5 inch tires. four speed straight six, loved it..love it.. I rolled it two years ago and havent had the time or money to fix it. It snapped off the drivers rear tire hich bent the axle of course. Busted the radiator and the radiator support. No frame damage, assuming everything else works. Its killing me to see it starting to rust away in a field. oh has a clear title. any ideas what I should do or any takers ha ha..of course the tub got damaged and the windshield..but it was amazing what steel bumbers all the way around did for it. I didnt get so much as a scratch and it endoed three times and landed upside down...

He already has a set of axles with lockers already on them I can put on it. I am hoping this spring it will be rolling. this thing was so much fun and man did I get stares ha ha it has a flowmaster on it with a hole or two and was loud as hell....

If you can get replacement axles for cheap or free, I'd say rebuilding is the way to go. Could be a fun project.

they arent free but cheaper then buying a set and then buying lockers to put on..hell I dont even know how to use them...I barely knew how to get out and lock my hubbs. I broke my jeep before I could really play with it and my YJ is lame compared to it and has issues with a muddy pot hole much less really off roading..think its the vacum system it um kinda got fried when it caught fire.....

OK, I'm intrigued. We need more info. We need the back story. Go ahead and tell the truth, because everyone here is super supportive and positive!

You had a CJ, but you rolled it.
You have a YJ, but you set it on fire.

And now you've broken up with the boy who could fix all this.

Did he run away? Did he let you drive him around, and now he just sits in a corner and mumbles to himself all day long?

ha ha ha..well ..he probably does sit in a corner and mumble. PTSD either from me or the airforce you choose.. I Rolled the cj in summer of 2007 and its been sitting since. the ex didnt want to fix it.. thought I should sell it..I refused. I bought the YJ in fall of 2008. It ran ok had a few issues. it had an fuel leak coming out of the carb(I was unaware) and apparently got really hot and caught fire(small fire )and the ex repaired it..half-assed I may add..and it runs but is still leaking oil worse then before because he cracked the plastic motor cover thingie that the carb and air filter sits on, sorry forgot what it was called...he was mechanical but did some major redneck engineering when he "Fixed" it after the fire.. a lot of my hoses are still not connected to anything and I havent a clue..but I do have a manuel.(cant spell either).replaced the starter and battery and rewired the ignition coil and the battery lines myself.....so anyway..we dated three years and he just fixed my stuff to keep it barely running but not completely..more of a band-aid then a fix..so now when I fix it I want it done correctly the first time so it doesnt have to be done again

What part of OK are you in? I'm betting there are plenty of Jeepers/mechanical type guys around that would be more than willing to help out a JeepGirl in distress

very rare to find a girl willing to get down and dirty working on a car! haha

i would recomend finding a good or decent looking cj for the body. and if the frame is really still okay just swap the body off another cj on to your frame.

I would rather be outside then in an office. nothing better then gettin a greasy and feeling the satisfatction of fixing it yourself
