CJ Pics

Show me your CJ's, I'm looking at getting one, but cant exactly decide where to go with it. CJ 5 or CJ 7? What's the difference?

I've had 2 7's and friends that have had 5's. Getting in and out of a 5 is a PIA!!!

7 is obviously a little longer than the 5. Other than that, not really any difference.

it looks like those axle are on top of the springs, is it okay to drop the axle under the springs? or is that a bad idea for the jeep?

No, that's called Spring-Over-Axle, or SOA for short. SUA is the factory setup.

The cj-8 which is just a longer version on the cj-7. And i think the last cj series was made in 86.

This was back around 2002 when I did a frame off restoration and right before I had to sell it due to job loss. Only got $5k out of it.

Here is a 1973 Cj5 my dad and I have restored it pretty much from the frame up.. but a 304 is a must engine to have if ur getting an ole Cj. But I do like the 258 a lot too

Civilian Jeep. After WWII, they felt it necessary to distinguish them from the MB, GPW, and later the M38/M38A1 series. Most parts are interchangeable. Some Marine models of M38A1 had Powerlock posi's in the front and rear. Can't go wrong with a CJ. All of which hold a special place in my heart. Some don't like the 3B. I always considered them the fancy flat fenders. And, you didn't have to cut a hole in the hood to put a V8 in it with a good air cleaner. Pick your CJ, and have a ball.

I have had lots of Jeeps. Is one better than the other? Only for what your intended use is. I must say that I love CJ's. I like the rolled front fenders. Flatties are cool but I don't fit in one very well. And no I aint heavy. 6'2" and 190 lbs.

This is my current. 84 CJ7


Here is one I built from junk for next to nothing!


Here was my 74CJ5. A really good mountain rig!


A 69 CJ5 and a 48 CJ2A


A 89 YJ. I bought in 1990.


A 92 YJ I used in the mountains. 4 banger and D35 rear.


A 2002 TJ. Was my wifes and I was afraid to scrtch it in the mountains. Sold it because she didn't drive it much!


And my first Jeep ever. I was 14 years old when I bought this 1962 pickup for $200.00


This was my 69 CJ5 in Hi-school

Thanks, it should be a blast to work on and to learn on. It sounds like there is a great group of people here that are willing to help out. I had a YJ before this and they are both great in there own way. This one seems like it will be easier to work on.
