cj v8

I think the idea of a factory v8 in a jeep is awesome so I would like to know what years were they available, and what sizes? I've seen 304 and 401, any others? I'm talking Factory engines.

In CJ7's, I believe the v8's were available from '76 - '81. Most common are '77-'79. The sizes were 304 and 360. The 401 was available in waggoneers but was a common swap for the 304.

I passed up a beautiful CJ a couple years ago because it had a V8. I didn't know they came with em so I didn't think it would pass smog. They were only asking $2500

I was thinking that 82 was the last year for the 304?

This may be a newb question but how tough is it to swap a V8 outta a CJ into a TJ? Further more, would it be worth it?

Can't really see why you'd want to do it. Even if you lived in a state with no emissions testing there are plenty of better V8 swaps to be done.
