CJ5 1980 258 Inline 6 Camshaft Removal

Does the enigne for a CJ5 1980 258 inline 6 have to be removed in order to pull out the Camshaft? The Haynes manual states that the engine needs to be removed. But, I'm sure theres got to be an easy way. This is my son's jeep that he's working on.

I'd pull the front clip before I would consider pulling the motor. Just had the one off my TJ it was not alot of hassle and I only needed help for about 2 minutes lifting it off then again setting it back on. just my 2 cents!

Ditto on the front clip. Pretty good access to the engine and quick to do.
