Does anyone know what this part is?

Got an 80 CJ5. Does anyone know what this solenoid (I think its a solenoid of some sort) on the firewall is for? Or what the bracket it connects to is for? One end of the bracket is connected to the frame and the other end was connected to the fender. The center has nothing connected to it. The solenoid has electrical wires coming out of the front of it that are not connected anywhere, a hose is coming off the right side of it and runs down to and connects to the bracket with an elbow. It looks like there should be another hose connected on the left side of the solenoid but there is nothing there right now. There is only one bracket like this on the passenger side of jeep, there is none on the driver side. The jeep is currently not operational nor was it when picked up. Any help would be appreciated, let me know if you need more info or pictures.

Maybe an old aftermarket electric fuel pump?

I certainly looks like a solenoid but long since out of service! It does not look like it belongs there as it resembles the industrial stuff we install at work in factory application. I've also have heard of people hiding one in the fuel system as an anti theft device.
