Man that's beautiful. It looks like it's in pretty good condition, too.

M38 usually has recessed headlights and front marker lights...looks like you got a CJ5, by looking at your pics...glove box would be in a different place, however, your hood is notched like a M38, but maybe po swapped or cut it? Also, data plates will be different. I could be wrong, but like I said, it sure looks all CJ5...

If it has been modified over the years, it's hard to tell.

The M38 A1 would have reversed front shackles, a 24-volt electrical system, and a stronger frame. I don't know if you can spot the difference from looking at the frame - it may just be more boxed on the inside. Not sure.

Unfortunately, most 24 volt systems have been swapped at one point or another, and after 50 years, a lot of the springs and shackles may have been swapped with easier to find parts, too.

It's most likely a CJ. The M38 was made for Korea and they never had all that many on the streets over here.

I belong there as well...I'm an intermediate guy ('72-'75), the kinda black sheep when it comes to parts availability....

(bowing down) "we are not worthy! we are not worthy!" (Wayne's World, get it?)

I would say those get the highest ranking on the Jeep hierarchy!

Test drove one once and it scared the beJEEPers out of me! It was jacked up and I could barely keep it on the road. Just had to hang on and pray I could make it back to the seller without rollin' it. I bow down to you, sir, for making it a daily driver to work vehicle!

What are your plans for it PBR? Gonna get crazy with it or restore it? I say 4-link it front to rear and suspend it with 14" coilovers. But that's just me.......

Maybe some 2.5 ton Rockwells turning 54s? Yeah, baby, yeah!!

And an LS-7 powerplant from a Corvette Z06. 505 horsepower should turn those 54s, no problem!!

But, even if you leave it stock, it's still a cool ride. So whatever you decide to do with her, have fun and enjoy it.
