Well I have not done the swap personally but here is what I know which should get you started. I am sure more will chime in.

First: Jeep Dana 300's will not directly bolt to a jeep T18. The T18 came with a dana 20 originally. Adapters can be bought but are pricey ($400 or more if I remember). I do not know the details but some scouts had t18's and dana 300's mated together...very few, These are typically pretty hot setups due to not needing a adapter. Is your t18 already mated to the d300?

Second: T18's will not directly bolt to a sbc. Two ways to do it. Modify a bellhousing. (some years are better than others) or buy a adapter.

This can all be done but require either alot of time or money for adapters. Sorry for being general but this should get you started.

I'm assuming you are going to install the SBC yourself ( motor mounts, exhaust ect.... ). Why not go with an automatic? In my CJ-5, me & Daddy threw in a 350 mated to a TH400 to the stock Dana 20. Yes one adapter, but we found it used and in real great shape. The Dana 300 is a better TC than the D18 or D20. Both the TH350 and TH400 are great trannys.
