Motor and trans swap help

Brand new to jeepdom. My 89 has a tired 360. I have been researching swaps and found many opinions. I have a 1990 chevy 4x4 with a strong 305 and what i believe to be a getrag five-speed. I used this truck for years as a plow truck. The truck is a rust bucket. Looks like I might be money ahead to use motor and tranny in my jeep, if they will fit. However, everything I hear about the getrag, they seem to be worthless. Funny, I have plowed heavy Michigan snow with it, worn out clutches, but not the tranny. How much is hype, and how easy is the swap? Thanks

You would be money ahead by rebuilding the 360.

Great folks, that's why I asked. I would like to change to a five- speed for the overdrive. I have 4:11 gears. What would be the best option?

Oh im sure they make an adapter to run your getrag behind it....but then your gonna have to get one to run the np231 case behind it. Do some research on NV4500's...I think that might be your best bet

Why an atlas II?

Pardon me for my ignorance. I must be wrong about the year. Marking on front says, CJ7. Didn't pay much attention to the title.
