My first Jeep

Hey all, just made a first timer purchase. 1980 CJ7. It has the AMC 4 (insert jokes hear). It's in great shape and been with the same owner for 17 years. Probably going to put on a clutch kit with master and slave as well. Any suggestions for suppliers? Its going to be mostly for cruising around town and getting back into a project before any major work gets started. Any positive pointers. Did I make a bad decision? It's gonna be fun no matter what.

First off welcome to Wrangler Forum. Congrats on the new CJ. Yeah the 4 cyl. as you know is a little under powered but Jeeps have came with 4 cyl. since 1946.

Do you have a hydraulic clutch? I have a '76 CJ7 and assumed all cj's have a mechanical linkage.

What is your goal for the Jeep? And you have to post pics or it didn't happen.

Welcome to the Jeep Thing ...you will begin to understand.

Any Jeep is a good Jeep. As farit as thethe 4banger, Look at it like this, with a tune up you will be getting fairly decent mileage, and if you start dreaming of lifts and motor swaps you REALLY do understand the Jeep Thing.

Thanks for the welcomes. Pretty sure it's hydraulic with what appears to be the clutch master cylinder under hood but I could be wrong. I plan to get it tuned up initially and enjoy it for a while until I can assess my approach.

Long long term could entail a conversion to a 6 but that's far out. I am just pumped to finally own a jeep.
