new cj owner

I have built yjs before but i picked up a ''willys'' tonight and i need some help, the guy i baught it off did not know what year it was, well he did not know any thing about jeeps actually, what i can tell it has a newer gm 4cyl,berg wener 3sp with granny gear and a gm1/2 ton tcase.I think narrowed 44 rear end but the front axle is a jeep lock out hubs and disc brake conversion. 2in sus.lift 3in body lift with 33s. there are no willys badging on the passengerside dash but it has a glove box and the gas tank is in the rear like a newer cj or yj? the jeep has diamond plating arond the back and the body is in fair condition with some rust, but the frame is solid no rust at all,oh and the front has a winch mounting plate but no winch.i know the jeep is heavily modified but it looks to all have been done right. can any one help me with the year and i payed 450 for the jeep
ill try to get more info and better pics for tomorrow

Just a guess but I would say willys body on non willys frame based on the front pic as the grill look set way back. Any title with this? Any VIN or ID number any place?

Whatcha got there is one of dem super rare 1953 flatfender CJ-7s on a Willy's truck frame. They only sold 7 of those, so it's one of the most rare vehicles ever made.

OK, Just kidding. I got no idea. I agree that the frame looks way too big for an old flatfender body. The curve and the length from the door to the fender in photo #2 make me think CJ-7 - when they stretched the cowl length.

Do those fenders look like they were stock to you?

I suggest more photos, and also posting them at a forum like this one:
TheCJ2Apage.com everything about the Willys CJ2A Jeep
These guys are just a bit obsessive about the minute little details of flatfenders.

And this site is a great one for identifying Jeeps. Good luck!

The first of your new pictures sure makes the body appear to be a CJ3a. But the frame doesn't stick out so far on those.

Are you hoping to title this?

It looks like it could be a lot of fun, no matter what's been stuffed in it over the years.

Got the jeep runnin today but the only way it would keep runnin was if i poured gas directly down the carb, its like the fuel pump or the gas tank are blocked, but i also found out that the frame is willys but the front of the willys frame was cut off and a cj front frame was welded in place. The whole motor was locked so i had to pour pb blaster in the cylinders and let it sit untill it finally broke loose, not bad for sitting for 7 years and never ran.

Oh man, that was my first guess. Should have gone with my gut instinct!

I'm glad you got it running. Well, maybe running is too strong. Strolling? Brisk walking?

But it's on its way!

I was on a run with a guy in a nice new JK. He was whining about the brush scrapes ("Utah pinstriping") on his rig. I'm guessing this is a thing you will not be complaining about.
