Possible purchase, thoughts?

Been in contact with the dealer and will drive up to see it Sunday. I'm new to Jeeps and looking for thoughts on this one and what I should look for when inspecting it.

Thanks!

confirm the gear ratio - 4.0 stick should either have 3.07, 3.73 (my bet) or the 4.11. Depending on what you want to do with it, you may not want the 3.07. That's a pretty decent price. The folks in the TJ forum should know more. But since this is a NH rig, I'd check for rust on the frame - in the rear. This one looks clean and I've seen it driving down route 9 from the road but I haven't stopped in to look at it (i frequent Keene).

Thanks! How do I confirm the gear ratio? With the VIN? What specifically should I look for on/in the rear frame?

How to Calculate a Rear Differential Gear Ratio - YouTube

there should be a plate if I'm not mistaken on the diff cover - but the dealer should know this or be able to determine it.

I'd check all of the frame - bring a screw driver and poke around - but specifically the rear by the coils. I think that's common - but the TJ forum guys probably know more.

I would look into the rust on the rear lower control arm mounts. Check the frame for rust especially around the transfer case skid plate. Make sure 4 high and low work. Check the heat and AC in all positions. Looks pretty clean.
