Radiator Cap

Ok guys, I have a few questions that are probably simple but I'm new to these old Jeeps. I have a 76 CJ5 that "seems" to run on the hotter side on the factory temperature gauge. Is this normal? It never gets to the red zone but it is always on the high side according to the gauge.

Also, when i squeeze my radiator hoses, I hear air coming from the radiator cap. Is this normal? The rubber gaskets seem fine. The arrows on the cap also don't line up with the overflow tube when its tight like it says they should. Not sure if that matters.
