I'm just about to give up on this and live with it. However one more try for the road. I dorpped an 95 Vortec Jimmy (everything, all sensors, alternator, transmission etc.) into an 89 wrangler. This is an easy swap if u get a custom wiring harness. Evrything is working and running (I did have te replace the CPI assembly). They suck..... As you can see this Vortec is an CPI system with a OBD 2 read out. However I have one thing that is not working that I would like to have for the furture. The serial data signal is not responding. Here is what I can tell you. The OBD 2 (Yes some OBD 2 was on earlier models then 96) DLC (Data Link Connector) is wiried with 3 pins, pin 16, 12 volet, pin 4 ground, and pin 2 serial data signal. Pin 16 power is working fine and turns on the OBD 2 scanner, Pin 4 ground checks out correctly and is grounded. Pin 2 data signal no luck. The wirer from the Computer for the data signal, which is on the Black Cable, pin 11 (ppl) passes the continuitity check. On normal vehicle like the Jimmy the 12 volet power is run rhrough the cig lighter. So if u have an blowen fuse no power and no signal. Not the issue here, have power. Now this leaves me to think the the computer is faulty and not sending the data signal. Strange since everything else seems to be working. Any thought or comments would be appreciated. I can live with this issue, however it should would be nice to have the read outs. Like walking around in a dark room and trying to find the door. You can do it, it just takes a lot longer.
