What's a fair price for an '83 CJ

"1983 CJ7, with Hardtop, hard doors, Bikini Top, original 258 Inline 6cyll with 145k miles, runs great. Rebuilt 4 speed trans, 4x4, all works great. Frame is solid, tub is solid. $4500"

What do you think folks? Good deal? Or something frought with peril?

The CJ-7's are starting to become somewhat of a collectors item.
If it is super clean, it sounds like a fair price.
Although there is no telling how solid the rest of the driveline is.

Prices of CJs are all over the board. It depends on condition. Based on your description I would say its a fair price, with the understanding it will be a vehicle you will have to tinker with to keep on the road. I would use an 83CJ as a third vehicle, but not as a daily driver unless you are a youngster
I don't mind spending money, I mind wasting money.

Sold Jeeps -68 CJ, 73 CJ, 80 CJ, 88 YJ, 95 YJ, 11 JK
Current Jeep 16 JKUWW

Seems a BIT high to me...... especially for IOWA...... or Illinois......

I bought my last one for $1000 with 1/4 of the mileage. Granted, it was not pristine..... but it was a driver.
"For Gawd's sake, put a RELAY in there or you could burn the whole damn Jeep to the ground" ...this quote brought to you by people who do not understand the law.....Kirchoff's, Ohm's, or Faraday's.

Had 75CJ5, 89YJ, 93YJ. Have 82CJ7 & 95YJ____Not one burnt yet due to lack of relays.
