Why I love my CJ

Recently picked up a 48 cj2a, but then had to go out of town. When I got back, it wasn't turning over. Not having worked on this jeep yet, I still managed to rewire the ignition side and disassemble/reassemble the fuel system, in the dark in a few hours. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination and been 10 years since I had to keep an old car running. I love how easy it is to work on, and can't imagine being able to do that with any new car.

Edit

Sorry, I meant to end this differently: This has just been one of many reasons I love the older jeeps. I was curious what makes others love having theirs.

I love that you can work on the whole Jeep with about 4 wrenches. LOL

I have a 78 cj7 with a ford Carb, GM ignition, a ford transmission, a fsj motor and a tub from an 85. These things are like lego's for adults. And yep, about 5 wrenches and 3 torx bolts on the whole thing.

Well, that depends on what you want to wrench and whether you have somehow managed to leave it "as built". At least you shouldn't need both metric and SAE tool sets.

I fix modern cars for a living, I chose my 95YJ because of its simplicity. No ABS, no Airbags, no door wiring, no dome light or door/trunk switches. I know this is in the CJ area, but I totally understand this thread. However I do enjoy the basic multi port fuel injection over a carb. any day.

All I need is more money, more space, and more time.
