Wow. The yards in your area have older stuff than mine. The D44 only came in '86 CJ's so a little hard to find . I passed one up a while back not knowing that. I think I remember you posting something about that though.
For your application I guess a d35 would be ok but I don't think anyone will tell you to do it. But it is your jeep, do what you feel is right. However if you run a d35 from a YJ you must run a YJ dana 30 front (or similar width) or the rear will be much wider. In order to do that I think you will have to outboard your springs. I don't see a way around that. I'm gonna guess you aren't wanting to do that.
Your easiest install will be a set of WT axles. That may mean you have to have them regeared to 4.10.
