Hello everyone I have a 1964 Marine Corps M38A1 Jeep. It was manufactured by Kaiser and I am trying to locate information on it. I know that it has the original F134 Hurricane engine and transmission. It is a hard top with hard doors. I have named him Gunny! Have any of you ever found a way to trace vehicle service? His bumper numbers are destroyed but I do have his data plate. Any information would be great.

When you say vehicle service, do you mean like what post it was assigned to? That's pretty tough since the military didn't really care about its Jeeps. Big things like tanks and airplanes, they kept track of, but not the Jeeps. Sounds like a great find, I'll keep an eye out for more resources (most of my research has been with WWII era Jeeps).

In the mean time, here's a great web site you might be interested in:

If it is a Military hard top, It is over built and quite heavy. But the doors are 1/2" plywood not metal. They look like they ran out of money and just made something that would work. They have sliding windows. And the look like they don't belong. Were they mount to the window frame they must use a dozen bolts or more. Big over kill.
