Is the frame tag still intact? (Drivers side on the front horn) If not there is a few more ways to tell what year it is, to start how about post up some more pics of the whole Jeep.

It looks like a post war L134. Is there a serial number on the water pump boss? The head also appears to be a post war CJ "raised rib" style.

If it's an MB or GPW engine there will be a serial number like this on the passenger side.

If it's a post war engine the number will be located here above the water pump.

What is the casting number on the side of the engine? Wartime would be 638632.

As far as the rusted trans goes, you will have to pull the top cover and take a peek inside, but you can probably bet it needs a rebuild.

Did you find the frame tag? engine serial and casting number? I see you have one of the data plates on the glovebox, are the other ones there? That will tell you the DOD (date of delivery)

If you don't have any of that information try and find the tub gusset serial number. I think that can lead you to what year it is.

There's a few others ways to tell the year but I'm not an expert. How about a picture from the rear.

Its up to you but my tub was in worse shape and I was able to fix it. You can buy a panel for the rear where they cut it out for a tail gate and you can patch the floor. It looks like the tool boxes aren't too beat up and you have what looks like a decent trailer socket (which means the tub is no older than late '42 as I recall)

A great pair of books you might want to get are All-American Wonder Volumes 1 & 2. They have some great restoration and historical info.

I'll try to do some more research but I think that the ones from MBs, GPWs and CJ-2As are all interchangeable. Not sure of the one you have, it's probably off the CJ because MBs & GPWs have the fuel pump on the fire wall where your horn is currently located (the horn was originally on the driver's side)

Here are some pics off the web (http://www.1944mb.com/c-118-MB_GPW_TOP_Maintenance_Tips_WWII_Willys_MB_Ford_GPW_Jeeps.aspx) and it looks like a fairly generic connection.

Looking at some of the pics you posted, the fuel pump would be the least of my worries :p

Since Army Jeep Parts was mentioned I figured I'd butt in again and say don't do business with them through your restoration. They refused to fix a mistake they made on my order (a grand total of $15, but it's not about the amount)

Ron Fitzpatrick is definitely the way to go when you order parts.
