I have a rugged brown pearl 13 jku sahara with body color top. I really like the look of the military decal sets. I want opinions on putting these on my brown jeep.
back on topic, when I first got my jeep I wanted to theme it out and I saw a bunch of military style Jeeps, I loved the look and I see it as a sign of respecting the military and their heritage and their commitment and service and sacrifice. I wasn't accepted for service when I tried to sign up due to flat feet. so I do anything and everything I can. I ride with the Patriot Guard, I give to military members and their families through charity whenever I can.
so do what you want to do. some people will hate it other will love it. the upside is, the decals arent that expensive and if you want to remove it they'll come up pretty easily.
For those of you who prefer those who have not served to not do their Jeep in a military style (I happen to agree with you - I have not served) what do you think of a G.I. Joe themed Jeep? I don't think that would be too disrespectful.
One of my favorite toys as a Kid was a G.I. Joe Jeep with 2 machine guns on the top. I could see anti cobra and Go Joe stickers

I think that's fine as long as you're not representing yourself as a veteran. The only problem with military themed jeeps by non military personnel is when they put things on that signify they were in the military. I am a veteran and last week I saw a jeep with my old unit patch so I spoke to the guy (always interested in 173rd vets in my area) and apparently he plastidipped it on his hood because he thought it looked cool. Needless to say, he removed it before he left the parking lot. Being respectful is one thing but passing yourself off as a vet is another thing. He did give me the idea for when I redo my paint though.....
This is interesting...
I never thought to add a PACAF decal to the Jeep.
That's something I might consider.
I don't care what anyone puts on their Jeep, but I would be disappointed to see a unit patch on a non-veteran's Jeep.
Liars are liars though, and there's nothing that I can say that will change that.
I'm in agreement with what looks like the majority here: You make a generic military tribute out of your Jeep, that's cool. You try to make it personal by claiming you are something you are not is just plain wrong.
I think Call of Duty, GI Joe, Halo (and the list goes on) tributes are all fair game. :thumb:
I didn't go with stickers...... I just got the plates with the Marine emblem on them. Just present your DD-214 and the are free, unless you personalize them(I did not).
Being a OIF vet and with 17 yrs to date in the Army, I have the invasion star on the hood (painted) and a pair of blank dog tags hanging in the rear view for all that will never come home.
I had to spray mine on, but I do agree that they look cool. I don't mind military themed Jeeps at all, but I can see where specific Badges or Unit Patches would be over the top. There are less than 20 Master Divers in the Army, so if I saw another one with someone I didn't know driving it, I would find that uncool.
These are in honor of both mine and my grandfather's service. The serial number is my grandfather's birthday. He came in toward the end of WWII. Shore Patrol" was my what I did while on Guam: but it wasn't my rate (MOS to you Army folk).
Stationed these two places while in San Diego. HSL47 (sliver logo).
I was the second person assigned when HSL 49 (far logo) was started.
