2013 jku sport build

I've had my jeep for over a year, and just thought I'd start a build thread. I have a 2013 jku with 3.73 gears, 2.5 inch teralfex coil lift with teraflex shocks, 18 inch ultra rims with 35 inch general A/T tires, poison spyder bfh front bumper with comp stinger, recon 10,500lb winch, ace sliders, and poison spyder rock brawler 2 with tire carrier.

I'm 19 and in my second year of college. Well on my way to class this morning (on my 04 gsxr 600) some older lady pulled out in front of me and I had no choice but to hit her car or lay it down. I laid it down and I rolled into the ditch and my bike slide and hit her car anyway. I'm almost 100% sure the bike is totaled. Almost every piece of plastic on the bike is cracked or broken, the tank is dented, the exhaust is dented and scratched, the front light and tachometer fell out through the front, and my front forks are bent back far enough that my front tire touches the headers. (I'm ok just extremely sore)
Since it's an 04 with 15xxx miles I think I'll be lucky to get $3,000 out of it, which is not really enough to get another one.
I'd like to know what everyone thinks I should use (some of lol) that money for my next upgrades on the jeep.

Would love some thoughts and ideas. Thanks

Get some photos in your build thread... that'll help! Rear tire carrier or roof rack would be cool, how about lighting? What type of offroading do you do? Rear locker?
I'll get some pictures when I heal up a bit lol ... I usually only off-road a couple times a month and when I do it's usually alone or with a couple of buggies. I live in WV so it's usually mud, dirt, and hill climbs with the exception of some rockier trails every once in a while.

I have a 40 inch light bar it idk if I should mount it or sell it. And I've really been debating a regear and lockers. The only thing holding me back is that when I graduate college (3 or 4 years) I plan to go big and just completely replace both axles. So I don't know if the regear and lockers would be worth it for just a couple years.

So I finally got the money from my motorcycle accident and Im wondering what would be the most important things to upgrade next. Regear? Anything with the suspension? I've done a lot of reading and I'm very hesitant to do a regear on the d30 up front.

Can't tell from the pics if you have done this already but how about rear bumper and tire carrier. Later when you build up those items will still be needed and won't need to be replaced. Just a thought.

What are you going to college for? Glad you came out okay in that accident...have had a few friends killed in similar situations. Though, I'm sure you've already heard plenty of that. But, it happens.

This build should be interesting.

Thanks, I got really lucky. I am currently in general engineering but hopefully at the end of the spring semester I'll officially be in petroleum and natural gas engineering. I try to wheel whenever I can but I don't know anyone around to wheel with at wvu. I plan on going big with this build when I graduate. That's why I'm really hesitant on a regear when I'll be swapping the axles in 2 or 3 years (hopefully) lol

Reading your story reminded me of those friends, so it put me in a somewhat downer mood the rest of the night yesterday. I hope it doesn't discourage you from riding and that you continue your two-wheeled adventures. I know you're going to spend the insurance money on your Jeep instead of a new bike, but I hope to see you riding again in the future. Trust me, you'll miss it more than you think right now. Even something as lovely as a Jeep cannot replace the thrill of two-wheels. ;)

That sounds exciting! I wish you the best in your career pursuits. Be open to moving, though, as those jobs aren't always available locally. But, then, I have no idea where you're from...so, could be that there are local jobs. Just, be open to the idea of relocation if you want to land a good job after school. Was a somewhat hard lesson for me to learn when I graduated. lol

Sorry for the late response. I got a new phone and took me awhile to get the app again. Sorry to put you in a downer mood, and I will definitely get another bike. Hopefully I can get a good deal on one this winter.
I am very open to moving and I am kind of excited about it. I live in West Virginia so I could probably stay here if I wanted to but honestly I'd love to go to Colorado, Alaska, or some place even more remote than where I live now.

Big news on my build... Called the dealership about my axle seal and oil sending unit that they were supposed order over a month ago. Turns out the axle seal was there and the oil sending unit is so far on back order the don't have an estimated date on when it should get there. So I asked how safe it was to drive with a malfunctioning one and the dealer said it was fine, that it was just a sensor and wouldn't do any harm. So I guess that's good, but also makes me think I have a bad head. The ticking (at least in my mind) keeps getting louder and I keep loosing more power. It literally feels like I've lost a quarter of the power it had.
On the plus side I've decided to take half the money from my settlement and put in a savings account, and the other half will go towards another bike and the jeep. I am getting the spare tire to match next week and I think that will really make it look good.

Thanks! Ok I'm looking to get a 35'' tire for my spare. I don't really want to get a new one and it's just there in case something would happen so I don't care if it's completely bald, as long as it will hold air. Does anyone know where I can get a used one for very cheap if not free?

You could check used tire stores or salvage yards. Otherwise, just order the cheapest one new you can find. Did something happen to your current spare?

If you are only going to use it for emergency purposes, I would rather see you go with a smaller tire, rather than one that is potentially dry rotted and bald. Safety concerns either way, but I'd say the smaller tire is safer than the old and questionable one.

When I bought my 35s I only bought 4 for some reason. I think I was a little exited and just forgot about the spare lol And ok thanks!

TALK ME INTO OR OUT OF 37s. So hopefully this will get enough traction in my build thread, but I need new tires. I'm running to 2.5 cool lift with trimmed fenders. My goal is to have new axles within a year, and through a locker up front until then. I'll be buying new bead locks and what I planned on we're 35s.. But with me getting new axles hopefully soon, should I
Get 37s and hope nothing breaks before I can get new axles

Go with 35s and when I get axles sell them and go 37s...

Or just get and stick with 35s ( most reasonable option but hey nothing I do seems reasonable)
