2014 Black Beauty JK

Hey everyone. A few months ago I bought a black 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sport S. It is primarily a daily driver, but I plan to mod it for offroad as well. Calling her Black Beauty because I can't come up with anything better.

Here we go!

Nice Jeep, JD; my 2014 JK is black as well. IMO, black is the best looking paint when clean, which is rare for a Jeep. Congratulations on your new rig and welcome to WF!

Make sure to post your photos here: Show us your Black Beauty :)

First mod. Easin into it with a simple upgrade, from clear OEM soft-top windows to tinted Bestop windows. No tools required!

The day after Georgia's Snowpocalypse 2014 (also Valentine's Day) my AEV Argent Pintlers arrived. Had them installed along with new Goodyear Duratracs in 285/70/17. Check em out...

On Monday, I'm having the Teraflex Performance Leveling Kit + Rubicon Shocks installed. Until then,

On President's Day got the Teraflex Performance Leveling Kit + Rubicon Shocks installed by a local 4x4 shop. Very happy with this mod. The Jeep looks like it should look now!

Next on the agenda:
  • MOPAR Tail light guards
  • MOPAR Gas Cover
  • Rugged Ridge Grab handles

and after that:
  • Rubicon Rock Rails
  • Ace Rock Sliders
  • MOPAR Offroad front bumper
  • MOPAR Offroad rear bumper

Got a few smaller mods in this week:

1) Rugged Ridge Grab Handles

2) MOPAR Tail light guards

Tomorrow going to swap out the Pintler's for Quadratec's machine-faced Moabs - not liking the argent color of the Pintler's with my Black jeep. Needs more contrast.

Until then...

Okay, had to backtrack a bit. After installing the Argent Pintlers, I found I didn't like them with my black JK. They are great looking wheels on some colors, but with black there wasn't enough contrast for me.

So last week I ordered 5 Quadratec Moabs 17X8.5 with 4.75 inch backspacing, in machine finish. They arrived two days later and today I had them installed.

They look great, just the clean look I want for my black beauty. Check em out!

Needless to say, I will be selling a set of 5 immaculate Argent Pintlers in the very near future. Will be posting on the For Sale section, but PM me if interested.

Until next pay day,

Surprised you dont like the pintlers. I love em, they were just out of my price range. Wanna trade?

I know. I love the look of the Argent Pintlers, but on mine they didn't 'pop' the way I wanted em to. I'll be selling for a couple hundred under retail (for the 5 set) if that's more in your range!

Easy mod today. Installed a black MOPAR Aluminum Fuel Door, much easier than the YouTube videos on the installation. I think they've made it easier. It comes in one piece now that you just push into place:

Upcoming is Rubicon Rock Rails, ACE Rock Sliders, MOPAR Off-road Front and Rear Bumper.

Congrats on your new beaut! Love the mods so far. I too got the 14 sport jk, but in white, and did the fuel door install. It was really simple compared to the video. It's nice that they come as one piece now.

Also, those mopar wheels are sweet! Why couldn't they equip our jeeps with those instead of the sport s wheels. The 4.75 back spacing with machine finish really makes those wheels shine. It's as if that was what they were meant to look.

Mod time! In the mail I've received:
  • MOPAR Off-Road Front Bumper w/o Winch Mount
  • MOPAR Off-Road Rear Bumper w/o Tire Carrier
  • MOPAR Rock Rails for 2D JK Rubicon

Gonna have a local 4x4 shop install the bumpers, but I took care of the rock rails today. Super simple install, and I like the feeling of more armor on my rig!

I did notice the rear of the rock rails comes within an inch or so of the rear tire. Seems close. Anybody else have issues there? I am running 33s.

Until next time,

Okay, looking for something to do on this fine Saturday, I decided to buy a can of PlastiDip from Lowe's and do my grill. I really like it! Not too much contrast with the black, but gives it a cool texture:

This Tuesday my MOPAR front and rear off-road bumpers are being put on, along with ACE rock sliders. Can't wait!

ACE JK Rock Sliders went on today. Why on Earth do you have to grind the washers down for them to fit? I don't get the reasoning there. If they are made for the Jeep JK then they should fit the Jeep JK without modification. Am I crazy?

That said, they are great sliders, sturdy and functional as a step:

Next week the MOPAR off-road front and rear bumpers are going on, a slight delay. Then my wallet is taking a break from mods for awhile!

Okay, took a day off work, my dad came over and we installed the MOPAR off-road front and rear bumpers. Overall it wasn't too difficult, less than I was expecting. Took right at 4 hours to do both, with a half hour break in the middle. These bumpers are awesome, check it out:

Whew, almost done with all the mods I plan to do (yeah right). This thing really is a black beauty now! Only a few things left
  • MOPAR Front Skid Plate (backordered)
  • Grabars for 2D JK
  • Rugged Ridge Mesh Grille Insert
  • 30% tint on front side windows

A cheaper way to lift a 2 dr is to get 19/60 springs from an Unlimited Tow package. I did that and gave me three full suspension inches...

1st Mod on my '13 JK!

I am calling my jeep the Craigslist Special. Got the rims for 75 bucks, tires for 400 bucks, springs for 50 bucks...

Good advice, I've already done the Performance Leveling Kit, looks great, but I'm already wanting more lift!

Eight months since my last mod!

The bug bit me again when browsing Craigslist a few weekends ago. Saw a brand new MOPAR premium soft top for sale and got a great deal on it. Had it installed last week. Much nicer (and blacker!) than the stock vinyl one.

Now that I'm hooked again I've got a couple more mods in the pipeline, $$$ depending:
  • MOPAR Enhanced Rock Rails for 2D (backordered)
  • Teraflex 2.5 inch Coil Lift (maybe, not sure yet)
