2014 Copperhead JKU Sport Build

A little about me first. My name is Paul and I've wanted a jeep forever. I've always let people talk me out of it as a daily driver, but since I live in the Florida Keys now, I can't think of a better place besides Hawaii to have a Wrangler with the top permanently off. Once the JK is paid off, it will become our third fun vehicle.

After looking around at used JK's and making sure I wanted the 3.6 Pentastar, it made no sense to buy used based on the insane resale value of the JK. So I ordered a new one from Fields Jeep in Sanford in February. I wanted a JKU that I had nothing on it that I would be paying for and removing later.

Here is what I ordered:

2014 JKU Sport
Automatic Transmission
Half Doors

That's it, completely stripped except for the AT. A knowledgeable car friend of mine talked me into AT because of the resale value. I'll be running with no doors or tubular doors most of the time, so the half doors will be an easier install in case we get a stretch of cold or rainy weather. Plus, I can't stand the way the full door look on a jeep with the top down. Dont get me started on the B pillar.

So about three weeks into the order, I haven't received any VON information from Jeep, so I hit up my salesman to check on the progress. He looks into it and says they have the wrong email address so he forwards me the paperwork, and it's already in D1. As I look over the form, I notice that they've ordered Amp'd instead of Copperhead. Ooops. I can't be too upset, because I was originally talking to my salesperson about Copperhead, but when I put down my deposit, I specifically asked to change the color to Copperhead and asked him to confirm it over email, which he did. He was off the day the order was placed and the person placing the order didn't get the memo. C'est la vie. If they can't get the order changed, they have to start over with a new order and end up with a really stripped Amp'd Sport sitting on their lot. It's really no big deal as far as time for me because the lease on my Mazda 929 isn't up until June anyway.

As a way to ease the wait time, I've been prepping for the delivery by reading tons forums and ordering things to make my JK my JK. I'll be posting pictures and updates as things progress, as well as ideas and thoughts about the direction I'm looking to go. I welcome all comments and constructive criticism.

Thanks for reading!
