This is my first Jeep. Always wanted one and finally things fell into place and allowed my to get my first. Kept coming back to white and liked the X package. Here are some shots at the dealer - my son and I went to pick it up.

First Mod!! Blacked out the muffler.

My actual first mod. Bought the black high temp paint and painted the muffler. After seeing it on a few of your threads, and then following my jeep to the store, I realized it was needed. Rubbed the whole muffler down with acetone first to clean it, then covered all areas with newspaper and cardboard and started spraying. These two shots show before and after. In looking at the after shot, I guess I could have gotten lower to take the pic but you can still see the outline of the muffler and had it been silver, you would have seen a lot more of it. 3rd pic is from the garage (after I had driven through some rain) but you can still see how much the blackout blends with the under-carriage. I am very happy with the first mod. Super simple but noticeable impact.

Teraflex 2.5 Coil Spring Lift with Shock Adapters

After much searching, went with the TF 2.5 Coil lift. I did not want to go to big and worry about driveshafts but I wanted a bit of room for 315s. Install took me two days as it was my son and I and then I had to actually go to work - ugh. Then came back and finsished with my brother in law. Not bad, all the videos and instructions were very helpful. I gained about 2.5" in front and 2" in rear. FActory rake appears to be gone. I put a level on the rock sliders while in my garage (which is level) and showed bubble right in the middle. Again this jeep has the steel front and rear bumper so not too bad. Sorry I dont have the same angle. Here is before and after the lift.

I saw many of your pics on many great wheels and tires but here is the picture that convinced me of the wheel/tire combo...

C Gussets??

Been investingating these now due to the 34" in tires. Does anyone feel these are must haves with this size tire? I will be off road at most once per month but I would say moderate wheeling and not extreme. If so, any advice on brand or local southwestern pa welders to use?

Great looking build! I love my Rubi X and have had fun building it.

In regards to your question, you should be fine with what you spell out above on maintaining your factory C Gussets...if you were running bigger tires or doing more extreme wheeling, I think you'd be wise too IMHO.

New wheels and Tires

The day finally came, very excited. I am happy with how it looks now. I was reading the threads between 285/75 and 313/70 and glad I went with the 315s. Feels much more appropriate on a 4dr. It was great riding back on the highway and felt very similar to stock. These duratracs are actually quieter than the BFGs that came on it stock. Will be taking it to the beach shortly and see how it does after lift and new wheels/tires for some extended driving. Hope no issues...

That's a nice looking Jeep! I like the wheels, I am scouting black rims with machines aluminum lips and these look great. Also thinking of getting Duratrac's, can you tell me how much they measure on the diameter? There are supposed to be some 34.5" but most tires are physically smart...

Thanks Amalesh - the advertised goodyear diameter was 34.4 but with these mounted they measure out to 34" on the nose but still have them aired up to 38 psi which is what the tire mount folks put in it. Drives great but I am thinking of airing down to closer to 32 for regular use and this could slightly affect mounted diameter.

What psi are most folks running with 315/70r17 Duratracs?

Big E - Yes, as of now using the stock tire carrier. 315 fits on there just fine (as 10A/X bumper has space cut out). I am researching other tire carriers though as i am concerned the weight over time will sag the rear door.

Stuff coming

After the lift install, my axle is out about 1/2 inch to driver side so I'm putting on an adjustable track bar up front to center the axle and provide more strength. Also, after much consideration on the tire carrier (and having a 16 year old son and wife who love to load and slam the rear door (plus the occasional dumb off road move I may make) I decided to also get the TF Hinged Tire carrier to strengthen the rear tailgate door. My hope is that long term the rear tailgate does not sag or have issues. I spoke with TF and a few others and they mentioned I don't need the TF adjustable tire carrier so just I ordered the hinged portion to help the new tire/wheel load weight. Lastly, I will be adding a the rearview camera and tie into the 730N system. Investigating that set up and will order once I settle on exactly how to do it. TB and Hinged carrier should be here soon.

TF Monster Track Bar

Came today, install very easy and did it in about 25 minutes. TF track bar is significantly bigger/stronger/heavier than the stock TB. It actually took longer to adjust my steering wheel as I had to do it 4 times because I kept rotating the adjusting sleve on the drag link too far one way or the other. Axle is perfectly back to center. Went wheeling right after steering felt solid (not that it was bad before) but felt a bit more solid and road bumps felt better but I'll get a better sense of the TB difference over the next few weeks.
