ACal Willys Wheeler W

Hey All,

Wanted to start a build thread for my JKUWW.

I haven't gotten it yet, waiting on the lovely people of Toledo like AA!

I've purchased McGard Black Lugs and a 5" AntennaX so far.

I've built one dolly for my Dad's '02 TJ Hard top (Pictures) and I'll be building one of my own as soon as it stops pouring!

Please feel free to jump in: ask questions, respond, add suggestions etc.

Nice dollies! Are you planning to build one for the doors as well?

Hey Star! Thanks. I haven't found plans online for the doors. I would definitely build one. Got a beat on some plans?

Here is one thread:

Homemade storage cart for doors and freedom panels

In that thread there is another link that BeastMaster put up with the plans for his cart, too. There is another cart, but I can't remember who made it or what keywords I used to find it. If/when I find it again, I'll try to remember to send it to you.

I'm going to have to agree with you! I'm starting to think of ways to build a 4-door cart. May be easier than 2, 2-door carts.

Thanks for sharing your build ACal! Do you happen to have a picture of the hard top dolly with the hard top on it? I can't really picture how it works.

Hey acal could you provide me with a link to the plans you used to build that dolly? I'd love to do the same for my hard top.

Not the hard top dolly, but an AWESOME door cart!

ACal, I think this one has your dad's name written all over it!

Hanging your doors.

Here's the hard top dolly plans...

Hardtop Storage Rack/Dolly

I know ACal is out of town, so I was just trying to help out.

Thanks for the info StarBrite.

ACal - The dolly is a nice alternative to having a hoist for the garage ceiling. Thanks for including on your build.

Hi all! Thanks for stepping in Star. Being out of town does cut down on my forum time! I used the PDF plans in the thread star posted. It's REALLY simple. I took my time with it. Also an electric staple gun really helps if you do carpet like I did. I just rolled up some carpet for the two "towers". I may build a door cart, depending on need. I have an old sofa in the garage and I heard Jeep doors love to lounge!

You're welcome!! I hope you're having a great trip!

So YOU may have a lizard lounge for YOUR doors in your garage, but what about Dad? Haven't you already set the bar pretty high?

Just giving you a hard time...

Haha keep the needles coming, Star. Trip went well. I will be in and out of Chicago for the next three weeks.

Dad has an '02 TJ so he only has the two doors. I dunno how much I'll be taking the doors off. It really depends how much I travel in the summer and the GF may be a little uneasy about driving without them.

Looks good. Been waiting for the pics all day. Now I have something to look at for the next month.

Is it all that you thought it would be?

Haha you and me both! It is WAY more than I thought it would be. My step dad and brother just went for a ride and we may or may not have crawled over the medians in the Walmart parking lot.

Looks great!

You looking to update the head/fog lights? That'll really black out the whole front.

Chrome Trick!

Log into VOTS using your name and VON or VIN

1. CTRL + Shift + C
2. Click "Network"
3. F5 (Refresh)
4. Find "VOTSServelt" in far left column
5. Click "Response"
6. Scroll through and observe the data.

You will be able to find your actual status (i.e. D, D1, E, etc.), Full VIN number, Shipping status updated twice a day once you go into shipping, and a few other details.

Happy "Hacking"

Very Nice! I use this to check on status daily. In KZL now and just wondering if they will even add more info when it's in transit? The wait continues.

They will. I know they added mine even though it sat in the rail yard for a few days. My updates came in at 1200 and 2300 usually. It didn't update from when it left the yard, but it was on truck the whole way and was delivered in two days. Everyone who has used it shipping by rail seems pretty happy as well!

Do the WW come with Rubi Rails/Rock Sliders or did you add those too?

Pretty sure the Willys come with Rubi rails. I think almost all of the special editions do.
