I'm probably a bit late in getting this build thread started, I've had my JKUR since June 2015 and done a number of upgrades. Luckily (but not for my wallet), I have a long, long list of mods and I've only just begun.

As originally purchased, Atlas is a 2015 JK Unlimited Rubicon in Anvil. I specifically went with the Rubicon for the sway bar disconnect and lockers, since I figured I'd want all those things eventually anyway. I also opted for 4.10 axels and the connectivity group.

Here are the changes I have made so far, in rough chronological order:

  1. Tow hitch
  2. Mopar slush mats
  3. Mopar door sill entry guards
  4. Fuel filler door
  5. Upgrade sound system
  6. Dash cam
  7. Raspberry Pi hooked to the IHS CAN-Bus (got it reading/writing to the CAN-Bus, no practical uses for it just yet though)
  8. Rock Hard 4x4 full width aluminum bumper
  9. Superwinch LP10000, 10k lbs winch
  10. Custom made backup camera mount (and backup camera)
  11. LED interior dome lights
  12. TeraFlex hinged carrier

This, is Atlas as of today:

I've got more photos in my Imgur album: Jeep - Album on Imgur

Since I'm the kind of nerd who likes to research and plan things out, I already have a list for what's next:

  • Genesis Offroad Jeep JK Dual Battery Kit
  • 2x Odyssey 34-PC1500T batteries
  • sPod 8 Circuit SE System (switch panel version)
  • TBD ham radio
  • Cobra 75WXST 40-Channel CB Radio
  • TeraFlex JK Third Brake Light Extension (mostly for the antenna mount, I'll use it for my ham radio)
  • JK HD Hinged Carrier Accessory Mount (I'll use the antenna mount on this for CB)
  • JW Speaker 8700J-C Chrome Evo J LED Headlight
  • JW Speaker 6145J-C Chrome Bumper Fog Lamp
  • JW Speaker 279 J Tail Light Kit
  • TBD 10" LED light bar on front bumper
  • TBD windshield LED spot lights
  • TBD LED light bar
  • 42" Hi-Lift Jack (all-cast)
  • Rock Hard 4x4 aluminum rear bumper (w/o tire carrier)
  • Rock Hard 4x4 aluminum armor/skids (protect all the things!)
  • TBD lift kit
  • TBD 35" tires
  • Under-body camera, connected to head unit
  • TBD rear LED lights

Also of note, I've decided on the Yaesu FTM-400DR (or XDR depending on availability) for my ham radio. My goal for the amateur radio was to find one that would allow me to do APRS with APRSdroid (on my phone or tablet), while still using the radio for voice. The FTM-400DR has built-in APRS, but no map view. However, since it has a data port, I can combine it with a bluetooth serial adapter, allowing APRSdroid to connect and utilize the radio. When APRSdroid isn't connected, the radio itself can still broadcast my position data.

Installed a stainless steel grill insert.

Tested out hanging my hammock inside the Jeep.

In the photo, I've got it hanging from the front rollbar, but the hammock would slide back too far. I think I can get a nice hang if I go from the top of the a-pillar. So I bought knock off grabars on Amazon, and had to immediately return them, the holes were drilled wrong and they would not install. I now have actual grabars on order from Quadratec.

I got more LEDs in the mail from Super Bright LEDs and got them installed last night.

Here's the list of LEDs I have used so far:

Rear dome (cargo area)
- (1x) 578 LED festoon ("Canbus compatable")

Mid dome
- (2x) 194 LED Bulb - 10 SMD LED Tower

Automatic Transmission Shifter backlight
- (1x) 74 LED Bulb - 3 SMD LED

License plate light
- (1x) 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Tower

Side lights
- (2x) 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Tower Amber

I'm trying to avoid using "CANBUS" LEDs, since I think it's dumb we have to waste power with hacks. As you can see, the only "CANBUS" LED I have so far is over the cargo area. I'm not 100% sold on the idea that this one is required either, I may buy another 578 LED and test it out.
