Wait...am I really creating a build thread? Yup!

I'll be posting "how to"s, illustrative pictures, trail info and adventure pictures of the places I go with my 2015 JKUR, Tankie.

Tankie the JKUR was named after my rescued Rottweiler, Tank (aka Tankie). Here's a picture of Tankie I:

Tankie II is in my signature. As soon as I can figure out how to post pictures and comments in this thread, I'll be good to go!

(Note to self - make first post about how to post...but only AFTER you learn how to post.)

How To...Eat in Your Jeep

A copy of one of my early posts in the forum...my first "how to":

Holly's Guide to Enhancing Your JK In JEEP Dining Experience

Vehicle "Must Haves"

1. Heated seats
2. 60/40 split rear seats
3. Generous condiment supplies and napkins

Step 1 - choose a drive thru
Step 2 - turn on the seat heater for the front passenger seat. You've got to pre-heat that puppy to ensure your bag of greasy fast food eats stays nice and warm.
Step 3 - order food, put on pre-heated passenger seat and find place to park
Step 4 - determine size of feast. If extra large, fold down the 60 side of the 60/40 bench and sit on the 40. If small snack size, fold down the 40 and sit on the 60.
Step 5 - remove condiments and napkins from rear "map" pockets. C'mon now...we all know men don't need directions or maps. Those pockets were designed to hold necessities!
Step 6 - cover "table" with napkins and spread out feast. Use the convenient rear seat cup holder for your drink.
Step 7 - after meal is over, bundle up trash, fold down the seat you sat on and take a nap

LOL I just found this thread! I could have used this a couple hours ago to preheat my seats because my fries were cold by the time I got home.

For the record I'm a map junkie! I hate not knowing where I am and that silly GPS arrow is nothing more than a you are here sign with no reference to the surrounding area! I have an entire case of maps just for Colorado. :)

Oh and I'm an Orienteering guy so I run thru the forest with nothing more than a map, just for fun. ;-)

How To...Poly-fil Your Sound Bar

The second mod I did was to poly-fil my sound bar. There are You-Tube videos on how to do this for pre-2015s, so you can check those out too.

Tools needed:
Poly-fil
T20 Torx bit and driver
1 celebratory adult beverage of your choosing (or 2 if you really break a sweat)

Time to complete:
30 minutes...less if you have someone holding things for you

Step 1: using the Torx bit and driver, remove the three screws holding in the speaker cover.
Step 2: using the Torx bit and driver, remove the three screws holding in the speaker. DO NOT LET THE SPEAKER DROP OUT...hold it with your hand as you remove the last screw with the other...you don't want to damage the connector or the wiring.
Step 3: hold the speaker in one hand and shove the poly fil into the open areas behind the speaker in the soundbar. (You can also disconnect the speaker...but I couldn't get the clip to release, so I just held it up in the air with one hand while I stuffed the opening with the other - held onto the bag of poly-fil with my feet - real three ring circus act up in there)
Step 4: once the sides have been stuffed, stuff some poly fil behind the speaker such that the speaker has a little resistance when replaced in the opening (enough to insulate behind it, but not so much that you have to force the speaker back into the opening...you don't want to damage the connector).
Step 5: hold the speaker in place with one hand and finger screw in the first two screws...this will hold the speaker in place for you while you finger screw in the third screw.
Step 6: tighten the three speaker screws with the Torx bit and driver. Don't over tighten.
Step 7: hold the speaker cover in place and re-screw the three screws being careful not to over tighten.
Step 8: repeat for other side.
Step 9: consume beverage while listening to your new poly-fil'd speakers!

How To...Calibrate Your Throttle

Step 1: Turn the Jeep to the "on" position but not the engine running position.
Step 2: Wait for all of the dummy lights to turn off (check engine light will stay on).
Step 3: Depress the accelerator REALLY slowly...Driving Miss Daisy with a touch of Cocoon slowly...all the way to the floor.
Step 4: Release the accelerator at the same excruciatingly slow rate.
Step 5: Turn Jeep off.
Step 6: Start engine.
Step 7: Take it on a test drive.

You may need to repeat the process a couple of times...and probably again if the battery gets disconnected. After driving around for almost a month with the calibration, I can say that the power dips are gone. It isn't a sports car, but it does have a bit more oomph (technical word - promise :happyyes:).

So, might be a silly question but I am a noob after all ... how do you know it worked or not?

I finally took Tankie out for a spin just before Christmas. I was late leaving the house, so I didn't make it up to Rim Road like I wanted to...but I still got to put some miles on him.

We saw Red Mountain, Roosevelt Lake, Apache Lake, and Canyon Lake. Nothing too exciting to report...just trying to dust off my photography skills.
Sand - check
Rocks - check
Catcti - check
Water - bonus!

How To...Install Your Jeep Dudes Windshield Decal

This is one of my favorite decals that I just installed. If you want to purchase one, here is the link:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LITTLE-JEEPS...3D321102208577

Step 1: park so your windshield is directed at the sun
Step 2: starting on the driver side if you're right-handed, line up the side of the decal into the corner such that the left edge goes to the black on the side and the bottom (the sun helps you see through the paper backing which lets you line it up)
Step 3: unroll and press onto the windshield section by section keeping the bottom of the decal lined up with the black on the bottom of the windshield
Step 4: when you get to the other end cut it off so that it blends with the factory "hill"
Step 5: go back and rub the decal so the air is out and pull off the backing (take care to make sure the edge of the decal is stuck on the window before pulling the backing off)

How To...Install Your Seat Recliner Kit

I just did this one this weekend. I used this kit from eBay:

Jeep JKU Rear Seat Recline Kit 2007 2015 Jeep JK Unlimited JKU 4 Door | eBay

Step 1: open box
Step 2: follow well documented installation instructions
Step 3: kick back on your reclined seats with an adult beverage

OK, so this was a really easy mod. The instructions were extremely clear, very easy to follow and the result is great. It only took me about 30 minutes for the install (including removing and replacing all of my slush mats and cargo shtuff). This is also where I think I'll plug my cargo tote...yes...I bought the Jeep cargo tote (MOPAR 82208566 - Jeep® Cargo Tote - Quadratec) and love it because I can go grocery shopping and not have a cargo area full of empty bags and groceries strewn about. :happyyes:

Those are the first places I went a few days after I got my Jeep:). My daughter and I went to see the desert snow a few days ago and found some pretty decent mud along the way.

Look at you, Holly! Woohoo! :worthy::drinks::worthy:

Thank you! I'm so excited! I get to be one of the big kids now. :D

#11 ·
Thanks! Welcome!

Feel free to post any pics/mods you've done too. I'm always looking for more ideas. :)

I have to remember to try that throttle mod! When I saw someone post about it before, Celticon was in the :censored: body shop!

#16 ·
I read that the slower you push it in the better. Good luck! I'm so glad Celticon is back!

Happy last day of the year!

You crack me up... I was laughing out loud...with a few of your posts.

And the pictures are GREAT!

One of the fun times I had in a previous Jeep was going thru the drive thru with "Sam" my German Shepherd. He weighted about 120 pounds, and was sitting in the back seat. I always ordered him a cheese burger. Anyways, paid for it at the first window, and pulled up to the second window and the girl at the was about to hand me my food and Sam sat up and poked his head towards the window of the drive thru and girl screamed and throws my bag of food at me...Sam was like what, I just wanted my cheese burger!

My stuff from pixeldecals just shipped! Yeah!!! I only plan on putting the smaller decals on myself and paying for some professionals to do the big ones. I'll post up pics and "how to"s after I get them installed.

For anyone looking for Tank spray paint, I'm headed to the dealer for leak fixes and I'll check into it...results will post on Saturday.

Happy Friday y'all!

The dealer didn't have the new part list. The parts guy was going to give Mopar a call and then call me back. The links to the 2 websites from AV8TOR have it, but it's much more expensive than the Mopar option. I'm going to wait for Mopar. Then I know it will match. (I'm painting a few things that will be right next to the factory paint, so it really needs to match.)

Sorry. I don't mean to blow a hole in your theory but the code for Hydro Blue Pearl is PBJ (no lie) and that was the code that started in 2013 for the 2014s. I'm willing to bet the code is still the same this year.

#40 ·
There is a color thread in JK General that gives the paint codes as they were believed to be back in July. I can't remember the title exactly. Maybe 2015 confirmed colors?

Just got my decals and bezel sticker! Pixeldecals.com simply rocks. I've got some stickers to start sticking!

We always do the wet install on our stickers from Don. I'd also suggest that once you figure out where you want them, lay out some blue painters tape to guide you. If you're replacing existing stickers you can mark off where the old stickers are first and use them as guidelines for the new ones.

You can also use a hair dryer to warm them up if you don't already own a heat gun.

And don't forget to use some of your favorite spray wax AFTER all your new stickers are applied, to replace what you wiped off cleaning off all the old sticker residue.

:)

Sooooooo...I'd like to think Tank was just crying because I wasn't driving him...but that's totally not the case. It's a Jeep thing. :p

Good thing I have that nifty built in Kleenex holder...wonder if Jeep knew we would need it. ;)

That would bug me. take it in to the dealer.

What the hell? Did you leave the window down or is this a seal leak? That sucks :/
That would bug me. take it in to the dealer.
Yikes, Is it coming from the freedom panel or the door? It might be a Jeep thing, but it should NOT happen to one that is so NEW!
It's definitely a seal leak...a big one. He goes in tomorrow for a fix. Given others experiences with leaks, I really hope they can fix it. The thought of having to deal with a buy back makes me shudder.
